Ste,

My E thinks that too much democracy in the West fuels the gay movement and allows for more people to turn gay.

Capt,
I had some out of this world experiences at this club as well.  Tver will always hold a place in my heart...

Capt B,
I don't think so.  I don't remember the name of the restaurant (and neither does Lena so it aint old age).  This place had a Karaoke room off from the main part of the restaurant.  Remember that this was almost 9 years ago!!  Will never forget the performance but the venue is a little shaky.

Hi Ste!

I find it interesting the way you described the Russian attitude toward the Gay people.
It is so true that there is a lot of intolerance toward them in Russia.
I had a big discussion with my friends about the issue. They believe that Gay parades are harmful to the society because it is a propaganda of the "abnormal" relationships. They believe that Gay are sick people who need to be isolated from the rest of the society.

I have done some study on the issue of sexuality and strongly believe that without the reading of Judith Butler "Gender Trouble" and Foucault's "The History of Sexuality" it is difficult to realize that there is no such thing like a sexual abnormality :D

I find that Russians are conservative and arrogant in their outlook on homosexuality. To me it is just a lack of education on the issue.
That is why it was difficult for me to deliver the "new" understanding (for Russians) that sexual liberation from the societies taboos (and it is also could be a n age difference issue) is a sign of the progressive thinking that allows a possibility to accept that diversity is OK!!!

That's a nice thought there Mir but I'm at work. Don't think it would go over so well.

Read your post... you said "my husband" not that LenaC should have said it. Just a play on your words.

Hi Ste!

I find it interesting the way you described the Russian attitude toward the Gay people.
It is so true that there is a lot of intolerance toward them in Russia.

I was listening to John Amechi (sp?) a UK basketball player in US on the radio today, and has just 'come out' said in 33 States in America you can lose your job if you are gay. That shocked me a bit although I guess a few fair of them will be redneck type States.

Spose we are quite tolerant here, didn't used to be tho, apparently in the sixties here homosexuality was regarded as a mental illness....

More correct, the Bible Belt states... fundamentalist religion within politics counteracts many decent concepts of a Democratic Republic... all too common here really... Red Necks don't fire homosexuals.. unless you count burning crosses in their yards..

In Manchester we have the 'Gay Village', basically a street in the city centre along the Rochdale Canal full of pubs and bars for everyone really but famed for it's gay clientele. The sign at the end of the street used to say 'Canal Street, now it says:

Interestingly, Moscow has an exploding gay population, according to a close friend of mine in Ukraine. His uncle is gay and owns a very successful  hair salon in the center of Moscow. Another girl I know who lives in Moscow echo's that observation.

Lena...did you observe any of those social changes while visiting Moscow? Was your attitude and view a bit different after living a few years in one of the most "gay friendly" states in the US? I can make that observation because I am a CA native from the Bay Area (San Fran).

LenaC,

At last you are here! Wonderful! Welcome!

You look awesome, happy and content.  ;) Very interesting report, i am planning to go to Moscow for 3 weeks in September, October, so i will have to rediscover it again too.

On the latest topic, I really exhaled after seeing Rvrwind's post. Thank you so much.  :) Unfortunately, the amount of reading, researching and educating yourself doesn't change what Bible says...and what will happen to unbelievers' souls... But everybody has a right to have thier own opinion...

Yes but when it affects the young & innocent & easily swayed I take issue with it. You see in Canada gays can marry legally & are entitled to the same rights as normal healthy couples including spousal pensions etc., which is only the beginning and makes me wanna  :puke: Now they are making it legal for gays to adopt. I for one am wonder who is the sickos here, the gays or the ones giving them the rights & powers to be equal to the rest of us. I pity the next couple of generations & can only be grateful that I will not be around to witness is destruction of civilized society.
God destroyed Sodom & Gamorra, whats holding him back from doing it again on a global scale. Not much I'd say. Duck & Cover!!!

LenaC

Richard, one in four of us is homosexual, so if your three friends aren't - it must be you! Batty Boy!

LenC, I think we've all got it, for example some men might want to look like Johhny Depp, why? Because he's attractive to a man too necause we wish we looked like him but that's hidden deep down......

Of course, last time I heard Johnny wanted to look like me and that's totally understandable, I don't mind.....

Moving forward with my trip report I just wanted to post an interesting photo( in my opinion.)
Here I really wanted to photograph Moscow police guys on the horses, but my camera also caught the one Russian family: the mother, father and their daughter. As you can see not all Russian women are in a great shape:))) they can be pretty "juicy". In Russia we say;" Look at your mother in law to know how your wife will look in the future." There is some truth to it :)
