UW generally think western men make good husbands

UW want to improve their quality of life, financial status

UW play a more feminine role than AW, allowing WM to play a more
dominant role, while getting what they want through a traditional
     feminine style of communication.

On a materialistic level, UW have less than westerners. This difference is accented by all of the new western/western-style stores like you see down in the underground Kyiv mall. How many local Ukrainians can afford this stuff?

Exploring UW is very interesting. I told my sister that they are like
'poor white trash', except they are NOT trash at all. They are the opposite, meaning 'educated' and intelligent and often sophisticated and ironic. In the US, there are very few women who are poor and white and also refined/intelligent. That combination just does not exist here. Here, a poor white woman is usually quite pathetic or
unintelligent or has very low self-esteem or was severely abused as a child. (movie: 'Monster')

I get the impression that many deals in Ukraine are carried out under the table. There's appears to be a tradition of having two prices - one for foreigners and one for locals. The Kozatsky Hotel has a large price list in the lobby. One for Ukraine citizens and one
for foreigners. Both lists humorously show the same prices. I think your average Ukr citizen is adept at haggling. (ie getting a taxi) Not much haggling here in the US.

UW are more image conscious than AW. Sexual attraction is considered a normal good thing, in contrast to the US where sexiness is considered borderline slutty. (God I miss the late 60's!)

Things in the US have improved recently in that regard, but I still see mainstream US as rather puritanical in many ways. The Puritans do not have much of a history in the Ukraine. Excellent.

Women in Ukr are slimmer than in the US. Women in Ukraine actually like their own femininity. In the US, many of the women see their own femininity as a weakness or something 'sexist pigs' want to grope. It's sad.

Conclusions?
UW want both: a good husband AND improved quality of life. Those living in poor economic conditions do want to improve that situation.
They want that and they want a good romance/family life. It is very tempting to spend lots of money on these women. Have discipline about this because if you spoil them, you could end up 'buying' them and you'll wonder if they simply married you for your money.

In Kyiv it seemed as though Ukrainians are less talkative than your typical New Yorker. Public life seems to be subdued. Independence Square at night is more lively. As we watched one of the amateur bands there, a stranger motioned for my bottle of beer, which I thought was amusing. I let him have the last third of it. I liked the lack of an 'open container' law. More freedom than New York.

Thanks. I appreciate the cheerful post. Actually it was just 7 days of a sleep-walking jet-lagged stupor. My conclusions were also influenced by the valuable experiences of veterans here at RWD.
