« on: June 18, 2007, 09:34:24 AM »
Hello Everyone,

While talking with my lady this morning she told me that yesterday at approx 1400 a passenger train collided with a freight train and approx 100 people were injured in this accident. I just thought I would pass this on and say I hope noone here is effected by this tragedy. The details are still preliminary but I am told that it was a combination of two sets of Human errors which caused this.

The press is reporting the following

About 40 seek medical aid after trains collision in Voronezh rgn.

VORONEZH, June 17 (Itar-Tass) -- About 40 people have asked for medical aid at the Liski town hospital after the collision of passenger and cargo trains in the Voronezh region, a source at the regional department of the Emergency Situations Ministry told Itar-Tass on Sunday.

Seven people, including one child, were hospitalized, while the rest have minor injuries, mostly bruises, he said.

The accident occurred near the Liski railroad station at 2:20 p.m. Moscow time. The passenger train en route from Chelyabinsk to Simferopol rammed the tail of a cargo train moving at 20 kilometers per hour. The passenger train’s locomotive and the first two cars were damaged, alongside two cargo train platforms carrying fertilizers. The accident did not pollute the environment and did not thwart the traffic schedule, a source at the press service of the ministry’s central regional center told Itar-Tass.

Best wishes,
Eric
