Flowers/Photo unintentionally offend?
« on: June 27, 2007, 08:31:05 PM »
Hi folks, I been corresponding with a UW for nearly 2 months, some phone converstations, etc.  I have no reason to believe she is scammer, at least there are no obvious signs and she seems to be for real.  I recently asked her for some updated photos and she said she didn't have any but that the agency may be able to get some for me.  So, I decided to show a jesture that I cared and send her 11 roses, plus they take some photos of her receiving (no scam check or anything, just photos of her receiving flowers).  I been told by one person (whom I don't really know) that all UW find the taking of photos for gifts offensive.  I been told by a good RW friend of 10 yrs, that it depends on the person receiving and the person giving.  What are peoples' thoughts on this?  She absolutely loved the flowers and the photos of her were awesome (not photo studio stuff just natural beauty).  She never mentioned being upset or anything other than she expected the photo because she was told about photos when the delivery service called and told that she can or doesn't have to take the photo.  Not looking for a fight on this but really just want peoples thoughts on it being offensive.  Thanks

As long as they gave her advance notice about the photos and gave her the option to decline I don't see any problem at all.

It would indeed be a rare woman who would be offended by receiving flowers & as Scott said if they prepared her in advance of the photo being taken I see no problem.

I guess some women may occasionally take photographing them right at accepting the flowers as a sort of certain mistrust, because by taking the photo the sending man apparently wants to receive an additional visible proof of something that he doubts.

But in your case the woman is happy, so no problem with that.

I had plenty of photos of my girl...  but when I sent her flowers she took pictures of the flowers HERSELF and emailed the photos to me.  I didn't even ask other than I asked if she thought they were pretty.

If I sent a service that takes photos with delivery I don't think it would be a problem at all.  Seeing that I'm sitting in her flat right this second in russia...  I would say everything is OK.  ;)

Thanks for the comments folks.  I was hoping I wouldn't have to be apologizing for a mis-understanding before the relationship started.

And might I say Lily....you are so gorgeous ...I sure hope someone is sending you flowers.   ;D

Scottincrimea: my lady happens to be in Crimea this week....uhh let me know if you see a blond haired blue eyed beauty in a bikini....geez that's probably half the population right?

Oh... by the way I don't think the photos would offend many women but if it did it might give you an insight into her personality or the stage the relationship was at.

I had some pics taken of my girl when I sent the second bunch of flowers but only because she'd exhausted her collection of pics to send me...  She had no problems with it at all...

If a woman ever said anything you could probably explain you wanted to check that they supplied beautiful flowers for her... which in my case was partially true.

On a side note... isn't the markup on roses incredibe when they're bought over the Internet.  Most things get cheaper when bought on the web.

mir... there's so many rules when it comes to photos huh?

No posting photos of ladies in RWD without permission first...

No sending women pics of your bare chested body...

Now I can't even post a bare chested pic in RWD!

Lily asks people to show their real faces, cos when she was new here you all thought that she was fake and the worst case she was a man

Mir, That "is" his picture from after a haircut and a shave... 8) You don't want to see the "before" pictures!

Actually I'm in Alaska and over here a dozen roses are about $45 delivered.  The ones to Ukraine costed me $69 which included 11 roses and a dozen photos.  My girl actually posed for a half dozen really cool photos w/o roses because she knew I wanted some recent photos of her and she didn't have a digital camera.  So, I'm happy and hopefully she's happy.   :)  I'll send her a teddy bear next...and not do the photos as I have enough to hold me for a while.  She actually looked a bit different than her agency photos but in a good way.  No doubt, same girl just seemed more natural.

I have sent flowers to a girl in Ukraine and i had to wait 2 days for the photos to be sent to my email..
I really don't know what to think about it.
But if she had been offended by me wanting photos of her getting the flowers it's bye bye.
I will meet this woman in late July and i will not take her to many restaurants or use "her" interpreter more then the first 2 meetings.
I have a personal friend and she will be our interpreter.
If she refuses to this...bye bye.

You might think i am hard on her, sure i am hard on her but i have told her about my previous meeting and that i don't trust anyone in the "internet dating".

The flower delivery, even with photo was probably a great idea initially, but in time - using such as a scam check probably soured the deal.

I would think any woman listed at an agency wonders what the true intent is.  If I were 'still looking' via the i-net  I'd opt for the flowers alone.

Giving is giving.. and should not include conditions, even if implied.
