James Blunt meets Roy Orbison
« Reply #201 on: July 21, 2007, 11:31:22 PM »
YOU'RE BEAUTIFUL

But Roy Orbison was the 60s.  This is a new century, but James Blunt sings the same song...

You're beautiful. You're beautiful.
You're beautiful, it's true.
I saw your face in a crowded place,
And I don't know what to do,
'Cause I'll never be with you.

You're beautiful. You're beautiful.
You're beautiful, it's true.
There must be an angel with a smile on her face,
When she thought up that I should be with you.
But it's time to face the truth,
I will never be with you.

LEGEND HAS IT...

YOU'RE BEAUTIFUL

You're beautiful. You're beautiful.
You're beautiful, it's true.
I saw your face in a crowded place,
There must be an angel with a smile on her face,
When she thought up that I should be with you.

Legend has it that several RWDers had such encounters...  AJ walking down a street in Dnepr; GregfromGeorgia at a crowded subway station...

PRETTY WOMAN...SMILING AT ME  :o

But back to my pretty woman encounter...

We were having dinner with two of Marina's friends at the Italian restaurant on the top floor of MOCT City Center.  Marina and I were against the wall, facing the open area of the mall.  Across the aisle, about 40 feet away, was another row of tables.

Such meetings with friends are pretty boring to me.  Marina and her friends speak rapid russian.  Marina tries to keep me in the conversation, but it's a lost cause.  It ruins her conversation, so I generally tell her to forget about me and talk to her friends.

It was SO smoky in the restaurant.  I felt like the air was mostly smoke and only about 30 percent oxygen.   In my boredom, I started to look around. Almost very table was filled with women....two or four together.  Mostly beautiful.  And all of them smoking, including the two at our table.

But my 6th sense felt it.  Someone was staring at me...

TEMPTATION EYES

Feeling someone's eyes on me, I looked across the aisle.  Two women were smoking and having drinks, and a pretty blond was gazing directly at me.  As I looked at her, she smiled.  A big smile.  An inviting smile…

TIME AND TIME AGAIN

It continued for about 20 minutes.  I would “feel” her eyes on me, and when I would look at her she would smile.  And smoke.   And do interesting things to the cigarette with her lips…

Marina did not notice.  She was setting beside me, chatting away with the other three at our table in Russian.

My hands began to sweat…

NEARSIGHTED GIRL

I should mention to you that Marina is nearsighted.  One of the worst cases I've ever seen.

She can see about 6 feet in front of her.  After that it's all a big colored blur...

That is one of the reasons she did not notice the

Simoni,

Ah! Now I understand, you have found a wonderful Ukrainian lady who is very nearsighted. Damn son you have done well for yourself.

Now you know it is all about who you are and not what you look like.  :couple:

I am sorry Simoni I just had to give you a hard time.

Ah, eyeglasses!

Da  :D

She told me that hers gave her a terrible headache, and refused to wear them.

But when I got her to the US, the eye doctor looked at her specs and said the FSU doc was WAY off in the prescription.  Got her new glasses, and she can watch movies and drive a car and everything now...

But half the time she forgets them, as was the case of the evening of the...

The pretty woman seemed to be waiting.

The two of them had finished their dinner, and were now drinking and smoking.

And looking at me…

Calling the World from Ukraine...for 20 cents!

CALLING HOME

I hate it when my phone rings...

I'm on vacation!

But some work has to be done now, and not later.

But it costs $3.00 a minute to accept a call on my cell phone!  Or to make a call to the US.

Things have changed.  I dropped UMC, whom I've used for 3 years here.

Now I'm a Life :-)  user.

They have a new plan where you can call around the world for one grvn per minute (20 cents).

I'm calling home a lot more on this trip, and enjoying it more.

All you need is an unlocked cellphone.

Here's their ad:

Wrong answer, she is a pretty woman then she thinks she looks ugly in eyeglasses, she is not forgetting them it is a beauty thing, nothing wrong with that and really it is better for you. Simoni it makes it more difficult to get caught flirting with another lady or checking out all of those tight backsides.  :clapping:

TOO MUCH BEER

I had been drinking beer for an hour.

I really really really needed to pee...

But this pretty woman, this confident woman, this cocky woman...

had me under her spell.

....and I was afraid to move!

What if I got up and went to the WC and she followed me?

What if?

I was drinking cheap Ukrainian beer.  She was drinking expensive red wine...or so it seemed.

You can buy the prepaid SIM card on every block in Dnepr.  I assume Kiev is the same.   The card is prepaid for $20 for 100 minutes, and is good for 30 days.  For the USA, you dial 811; England I suppose 81 +country code plus number.  Nice having 20 cent international calls :-)
