That question might be better asked on a technology forum. May depend on what you are trying to log, the operating system, etc.

The fact that you think you need one is a much bigger problem. Care to elaborate?

No key logger is good.  You might want to consult a professional about your current state of mind if you feel the need to use one.

It's pretty easy actually... you either trust someone or you don't.  If you do, I'm very happy for you.  If you don't, just let go!

007 which can be downloaded from Tucows is a good one.   I agree, if you need one you should let go.   I did.

I didn't say letting go of a bad relationship was EASY.... but if you need to use a key logger YOU SHOULD JUST LET GO!

I'll say it again...  IF YOU NEED TO USE A KEY LOGGER JUST LET GO!

______________

Dude...  I've taken a total of a few minutes to ponder this again and I think you really need to get a grip...  You say "worst advice ever"???

Let me PROMISE YOU... the worst advice ever is to tell you how to launch a clandestine assault on someone's privacy.  You're breaching whatever trust is left in your relationship.

The approach you need to get your head around is that you SHOULD speak to the person you're trying to "break".  If you can't speak to them JUST GO.

If you can speak to them but you don't trust them how on earth do you think spying on them will help you trust them?  No amount of information will satisfy you because you're feeling insecure.. JUST LET GO...

I don't know if it's obsession or not but I do know anyone wanting to use a keylogger to spy on someone else SHOULD JUST LET GO!

There's a better way to live your life!

Turbo's correct, I also had this problem a few years back. If you're at the point in a relationship where you mistrust her so severely, you're better off writing the relationship off. If you find bad news, the relationship is over. If you don't find bad news, you're violating a very serious trust and the relationship may as well be over.

I didn't think the trees down at the tip of south Florida were big enough to BE logged.

Turbo/Groov,

And if you had a young son or daughter, would you consider using keylogging software?

Sohkay:

I don't know the answer to that, and I hope I won't have to find out.

Assuming joe7 is looking to spy on his GF... well as harsh as it sounds she is disposable, a son or daughter is not.

Which is why I asked him to elaborate in the beginning. If he cannot/won't do that then any advice he gets is well worth the price of admission.

Copping an attitude on the other hand will get him nothing.

Someone mentioned key logging thier son or daughter.   Perhpaps if I had good reason to belive thier actions were putting thier life in danger I might consider it.  For anything even remotely approaching normal,  never, never, never.

No, I don't think so. There are plenty of ways to block content/access other than that. Heck, by the time he get to his teens they'll probably have an embedded chip with virtual glasses that "all the kids will have so he will just HAVE to have one too!"

I can see that if you have a troubled teen, say a daughter that you suspect is chatting up old pervert types and she has given you enough suspicions that you would think about it seriously.

The issue here is that we don't know what the situation is and obviously we aren't going to find out either. This is starting to have the smell of a troll hunt. And while I do also enjoy a good troll hunt at times I bagged one a little bit ago so perhaps someone else would like to have a go at it.

Ken

P. S. You're getting pretty creative with the names! They're getting longer each time...

Joe,

You might consider making an introduction to the board. Coming onto RWD and posting a message which can *easily* be construed as seeking information to violate another's privacy - and then to cop an attitude - and then to insult a long-standing member of RWD is . . . [shockingly] NOT an effective way to; (a) make friends, or (b) solicit answers to your question.

It seems you are posting from Kharkiv - which at this point is merely a curiosity because it is unusual - but it *is* noted.

My suggestion is - cut the crap - provide some context - drop the 'tude - and make some productive (a/k/a 'helpful') contributions.

- Dan

The person who started this post has got to be a troll. Let's see, the person asks about key loggers, then gets offensive when posters ask why he/she wants one. Let me ask myself a question? This board is about 1) Computers, 2) Golf, 3) Relationships with FSUW. Ah, after thinking some, which is not one of my better traits, I'll guess at number 3.

All readers know the correct answer. So when some individual asks a question about key loggers and gets sensitive about other men asking about a relationship and he/she totally blows their stack, I think we have a troll. It's either that or we have some completely insecure person who does not know how to trust a lady he is trying to marry.  I agree with all of you who question his motivation.

There was a prior strand where logging keystrokes was discussed...a much more intelligent strand where the guy who asked the question was not slammed...and a good discussion ensued.

But I can't find the thread anymore.  Anyone remember it?
