What?

Jazzy if you are feeling picked upon it is because of your extremist views and inflammatory postings.

catzenmouse,

Are you sure you know the difference between extremist views and views that do not fit into your view of the world?

I'd say you need to look at yourself for that answer.

Warne B,

You need to understand that Russia is very Xeniaphobic and for many Russians where you were from is what you are no matter where you were born.

Teegar, if a Russian is so (xenophobic) 'notice' spelling....and definition of said word....then why did my Mother in law, allow me to sleep in her home the very first week that I met Anna :noidea: (guest room) and do you think that she cooked breakfast for me out of 'fear'....I don't think so.....Tegro...sometimes I think you are so caught up with yourself and your money....that you become 'xenophobic' about why you have a problem with spelling ;)  You can afford English lessons you know ??? ;D

Wayne B,

You really need to get over yourself, spend a few YEARS in Russia and maybe, just maybe you will learn something, but I doubt it.

As for spelling you try posting on a forum like this from a PDA and see how well you do. Get a life.

Tiger...like I have said before....for 'some' money brings about laziness and evidently....if you have or had lived in Russia....you did or did not learn much ;)  As for the PDA, I will gladly loan you some money to buy a lap top ;)

Some folks are just born with a permanent PEBKAC error. Others may use the term ID-10-T error but in the end it is the same problem.

I wonder how many others here know how common those errors are

Ok... let's just say she is a Russian Citizen but she is Armenian. Just cuz she was born in Russia does not change her heritage. Kinda like when a German Shepherd that was brought directly from Germany, has puppies, those puppies are still German shepherds, not American shepherds!  :-)

Jon, I hear you ;) For the record, I had an uncle from Armenia...I wish that I would have been able to spend more time with him...I was a very young boy, when he passed...but, he thought enough about me to leave some of his wood working art...I have this in my home and I display it proudly ;) One day...we will catch up with one another...and I hope that he will teach me his skills....I know that he will :)

It's interesting to see the topic of nationality and heritage raised here.

Perhaps it's an indicator of cultural pride that's hard for some in the west to understand.

An Armenian born and raised in Russia still feels Armenian while many Ukrainians born and raised there still feel Russian because of their parents or grandparents former homelands.

I know I feel great pride in my European heritage and think many first generation Australians do as well... Some in the west will never understand it because they don't feel it... but many things on this journey are difficult to understand.

PEBKAC = Problem Exists Between Keyboard And Chair

I'll let the user of PDA explain its meaning.

Don't forget ID-10-T - idiot

The way I heard it was that about 15? years ago there was a survey of help desk personnel and the two most common errors they encountered were:

1. ID-10-T
2. PEBKAC

Actually, there is no keyboard on a PDA; not a "real one," anyway...

For those who don't post with their PDA, I'll share that it is nothing like posting from a computer.

The only thing you see is the text on your PDA.  You don't see the time posted.  You only see one post.  You can't quote.  You don't have spell check.  And once you post, you CAN'T edit your post, so typos remain.   And typos you will have when you enter text with a tiny onscreen keyboard, often sharing 3 letters with one key; hence, you WILL have errors.

But my view is that internet posting is informal, first draft and that it's more important to get the message out than to post edited "published material."

Jon-- Welcome back.  You are living in Sochi in a very exciting time! We look forward to hearing more from you.

I wonder what happens if oil and gas prices crash who will pay for the olympic buildings to be built in Sochi?  Oh well they can always move it to Austria...

I would love to visit there someday though.

Interesting. Don't have, want, or need a PDA but this does bring up a question or two.

Then how could TP quote people so often? Mayhaps he was not being honest with us about the PDA? And how would he change his font color and size (Is that also not available like the spell check?)?

I mean, Heaven Forbid, that TP was being less than fully and completely honest with us. It would be just scandalous to even for a second think such a thing! Naw, couldn't be possible. Must be our misconceptions and rampant jealousy of his amazing intellect and rock star lifestyle!

.... there I feel better now....  :D
