Lena and I have been watching the current singing compitition going on in Latvia.  Mostly Russian, but it is an international compitition.  The Backstreet Boys knockoff from Kazakstan was a hoot!

This is just the first time I've been exposed and had a chance to enjoy Russian music. I'm learning more and more about Russian culture everyday ... and enjoying all of it.

Actually i do understand! I made a point tho of studying them. Like 'Electrichka' I understood the point of that. And 'Kamchatka', even my beloved didn't understand the boiler-house motif in that one...

But also I know we can't REALLY understand, only thru third-party and a bit of historical awareness u can get a bit of it.

so  interesting how many people like Zemphira I never liked her , never understood her lyrics and those haotic just picked by chance words , music of some songs is ok but not stunning, I think the one russian-moldovanian band I could listen without any kinda disugst it was Zdob Shi Zdub , actually only one song  I forgot the lyrics it was something :Gulyali vsu noch do utraa a a a a a a with gypsies or something that was really nice song

I think that trully russian songs are no way near these modern pop and more over so to say alternative russian rock such as Zemphira, Mummiy Troll and so on - these are  nothing but the copy of western music

I like a lot UK band called Keane it is really amazing not only lyrics but of course strong emotional amazing sound
 here you can listen to their music and watch the videos , they are one of the most unique bands , they use piano and drums only ,no guitar  it is trully rock 'n' roll  like Elton John used to do only piano and drums -that is a special indivudual style in music really

There is a music video that is pretty much promoting the beauty and sexiness of Russian girls. The lyrics are basic and pretty much say just that, and then go into a chorus of singing a few different girls names. There's also a scene of them doing a car wash. Has anyone seen this video, know who sings it, where I can find it, etc.? I've watched it a couple of times in Ukraine. Trust me, it is an "eye candy" video and doesn't have much substance to it, but it's fun.
