A threat, or just a sport?
« on: July 31, 2007, 05:49:21 AM »
I have an interesting question for the Ru/Uk women in the forum.

How do you feel about Martial Arts? Is there a negative perception, or the view that its just a sport?

Im aware that alcohol abuse is quite widespread in the FSU, and a lot of times, alcohol abuse is followed by physical abuse, hence my question.

Ive been practicing Muay Thai (kickboxing from Thailand), for about 7 years now, I even teach it in my spare time. I have never though, raised a hand, or even my voice to any woman I was involved with, if anything, my ex girlfriends are fully aware that I am completely harmless.

I dont want to give up my favourite sport; it would break my heart, it keeps me fit, drives me to the gym, helps me maintain a healthy lifestyle etc.

Would knowing this, make FSUW uncomfortable, or intimidated by me?

Ick
I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I come to die, to discover that I had not lived.

My fiance is a Kenpo Black Belt, 4th dan, and had practiced Kenjutsu a while ago.  He is also one of the most peaceful men I've ever encountered, he never even raises his voice.  I would never feel myself in danger near him; quite the contrary.

I think that a man proficient in martial arts should be valued by a RW. It's a good masculine sport, and would definitely add to the man's assets. No intimidating, I suppose.

Too right, althought the only Italian pivo I will consider is (I think) Moretti Gran Reserva or sth similar - ochen vkusna....

Tonight, it's Leffe again, in my posh Leffe glass I proudly stole from the Adephi pub in Leeds....

I think you mean "Moretti La Rossa", a very decent ale, IMO.

For ages, Italian beer was only "bionda" (blonde=lager), ale was a comparatively recent innovation, and "scura" (dark=stout) almost unknown until some "English-style" pubs started selling Guinness.

In recognition of your appreciation, here you can download a Moretti wallpaper ;) for your desktop: http://www.morettibeer.com/desktops.asp.

Ahh, but u struggled with ur own country's beer, shame, shame!

Ask me about Owd Roger, Wobbly Bob, or Enoch's Hammer and I'm right there...

I had two Lancia Gamma Coupe's - at once! Not many RHD, I must have own a fair percentage, what a car, great and crap at same time....

I'm in the market for one of these too, now I can afford the petrol, I think it's obvious Pininfarina used his notes for both cars......

I stand humbled. May the fact that I also owned a Lancia Gamma Coupé in the 1980s be considered an extenuating circumstance ;)?

Pininfarina did style the Gamma Coupé, you should see his emblem (a crowned F) and name on the body near the front right wheel. I suspect he, or more probably someone from his studio, also had a hand in the curvy lines of my Barchetta (sorry for the character in the passenger's seat, just an RWD Croc passing by ;D).

I'm confused now, I had a Gamma, hankered after the Ferrari 400 series, now I prefer the Gamma Coupe.....

And I had two at once!!!

I might go for this:

Ohh, now that's a car to masturbate over, or, to be British, the staid but wild Bristol:

It's the Maser I think....

IIRC, wasn't it a Bristol body style that Carroll Shelby used to make his now famous AC Cobra?

Yes, I think it was a 1965 Bristol he used to build the 427 CI street rod.

It was yes, one of the early racing Bristols.

The Bristol Car factory was affiliated to the Bristol Aircraft Company, and the cars are built to aircraft standards, I still hanker after one, I've seen one in the flesh, God it was ugly, sort of put me off.

Bit like some of the idiots in this game, dreamt about one without seeing one, saw one, went off it. No chemistry.
