Help! Is there a Computer Guru in the house?
« on: June 15, 2005, 05:27:08 PM »
I uninstalled Windows XP Service Pack 2 because the help files in Internet Explorer were corrupted.

In Add/Remove programsHotFix KB891781 is listed as being installedbut when I access Windows Update I am told I have not successfully downloaded and installedthis HotFix and HotFixKB890830 cannot be downloaded and installed either.

Every other HotFix was successfully downloaded and installed.

Add/Remove Programs also shows HotFixes for Windows XP Service Pack 2 are still installed even though I have removed Service Pack 2.

I have reverted back to Windows XP Service Pack 1, so I don't need these Hot Fixes for Service Pack 2.

Thank you.

Any suggestions how I can clean up everything?

Thank you.

Clyde,

I'm not sure if you had this problem corrected but the following link will take you to the actual Microsoft document on how to completely remove Service Pack 2 from your computer...

If you need more assistance let me know!

I am an MCSE, a Network Administrator for a county circuit court here in Florida, I own my own consulting business as well and started this career as an Exchange Engineer for Microsoft so I think I could be considered somewhat of a guru!!! If you ever need any assistance PM me....

bbernard, I don't see the link.

I was able to run windows Update and bypass the specific hotfix.

Thank you for offering to help I may send a PM in the future if the problem persists.
