Is my papa really an American???
« on: June 19, 2005, 07:51:09 AM »
List,

This raises an issue that will probably be public in ten or so years.
Remember all those babies from previous American expeditions to
Korean, Japan, and Viet Nam? What will happen if a bunch of FSU kids
start showing up an the American embassy claiming their "papa" is an
American?

I guess if they can prove it then they will be "automatically"
American citizens?

hmmm...new topic, what's the possible implications?

This has already happened in those places where there was a large American military presence 25-30 years or so ago, i.e., Korea, Japan, Phillipines, Vietnam.  It happened even earlier in Germany.  There's lot's of little half 'mericun rug rats runnin' around in the world whereever there was/has been a significant American military footprint.

jb,

But we're not talking about a large U.S. military presence.  We are talking about a large number of western men going to the FSU, having unprotected sex, and then forgetting that just maybe they spawned a child.

Will it become a issue for public debate in the future or just a few isolated instances?  Hard to say.

Jon,

The American footprint in the FSU countries is still relatively small.  I agree the sex tourist is a bad concept, but when you consider that the Europeans and the Japanese have been doing sex tours in places like Thailand for years, compared to that scope, we are still small potatoes in the FSU.

Yeah, it might raise it's head sometime down the road and bite us in the backside, but not for quite a long time.  Plunk down an American army base in the middle of any country and within a few years there will be the problem you mention.

jb,

But it's not quantity but quality.  Remember that most American or western men who visit the FSU are above average wage earners.  Maybe evan a few millionaires mixed in the pot.  So what's to keep a FSU child from discovering his biological father is the CEO of some American corporation?  It could stink up the works with just one child claiming that some famous American is his daddy.

I don't think a G.I. would get as much exposure in the American media.

I haven't seen any statistics that would give weight to the idea that men visiting FSU to meet women are above average wage earners.  But, common sense dictates that it is probably the case since, in the end, it will be a fairly expensive undertaking.  But I doubt many name recognizable CEOs are among this group.

I don't think there are enough men going to FSU in any concentrated area that would lead to a noticeable population of children that would draw any attention.

However, on a related note; it is quite surprising the percentage of FSU women who have asked me NOT to wear a condom.  They seeminly are not worried about pregnancies (for whatever reason), but they are quite naive about this in view of the possibilities of STDs.

I insist on using condom and this has p.o.ed a fair number of them.  I made mistake early on of telling that I have had vasectomy (I  no longer make this mistake).  Then, they really got upset asking why I felt need for condom.  Of course I couldn't point out the obvious that I was trying to protect myself, even if they didn't care to try to protect themself.

Some of them say things like;  I haven't been with another man for 6 months or 2 years or whatever.  All of which is totally irrelevant given that some of these STDs take years to be noticed.  Why they are so dumb about this (including several MDs I have been with) is a mystery to me.

Albert,

Kudo's for the raincoat.

For the rest of the 'unsnipped', standing in the rain who hit the conceptive jackpot:

Abortion - nice thought huh..(even if you don't know):?

or

Extortion - maybe the next upcoming scam once RW's find out how much they could collect for child support etc, start doing credit checks before your visit and hook up with good U.S. lawyers. "Green card - no thanks, here your genes can support us quite well."

Either way I wouldn't feel sorry for ya.

Since the raise of aids in Russia, the man who f*ck without condom don't need to worry about child... he can be dead before...

Seriously... the RW know about condom and all RW that i have meet have resuest the use of condom in the first time of relation... and myself, i take always my reserve with me for a trip... they are more cheap, better quality and not over date here that in FSU... For information, a condom in Ukraine is around 6 Grivna for a good one ( durex )...

The man who f*ck with a woman that he know from only short time without protection is really crazy... this spare you problem of aids and other like syphillis...

And about make child, several RW know the contraception method... usually, woman who have already a child use the sterilet... more cheap at long term that contraceptive pill... and same in a little city like Lipetsk, the apoteek buy a pill "for the day after"... really, if you make a child, you are responsible...

Bruno,

They must be made of gold, because in the U.S. it would cost less than 5 grivna.  Of course, everything in Russia and Ukraine better and America!!!

Da!!

Cioa,

Jon

This, IMO, is really a presumptuous thread...
