I am not talking about you wearing them:) I am not talking about women, I am talking about men here.
Besides if you ask most men, I am sure they would rather see a woman wearing heels instead of white sport shoes (though I totally agree that they are comfortable)

Me I'm in awe at some of the highheels I see women wearing. As beautiful as they are & they look in them, it has got to be painfull. I know I could never navigate in them, that's for sure. Probably break an ankle or two.  ;D

Anna, I have a question for you.  When you were on aweb (or any agency) were you pressured to respond to all emails?  Were you presssured to continue correspondence if you were uninterested in the man?

When I was on Aweb, I didn't have to correspond with the people that I didn't like. The only one inconvenience for me was the following fact. There is such a service when the agency automatically sends introductory letter from the girl to the guys that they think match her type. Which increases chances for shy people to meet. And sometimes of course people that you would never correspond with get your intro letter and reply to you. After you get his reply you are obliged to answer to his letter, but if you do not want to correspond with him you would find some reason why you think that you are not a great match for each other. But I never was told to correspond with people that I do not like. Of course sometimes I would correspond with a man and when he would come to visit me and he looked completely different from the picture.
So to answer your question I had to respond to all the emails as a polite person, but I always could respond "Sorry, I am not interested" to the men that I was not interested in. But I never was pressured to continue correspondence with guys that i was not interested in.

I doubt this may be Aweb's true motivation ;).

Ditto.

The above paints a very pretty picture indeed of Aweb's policy ;D.

 Anna,

The shoes you showed are the types I wear. I was wondering the other day if the square tips were out of style as i don't keep current. Happy to know they are not! I still wear sneakers to work out and for powerwalks. But sorry Jazzy, never white ones.

Did they ever keep on top of you to respond to letters of men you said you WERE interested in, or did you just respond to them promptly anyway?

Anna, be honest. Do many girls care about the men's looks, but willing to settle for his lack of looks ? I had read in another forum where a girl said too many women were willing to settle and marry older men or men who were unattractive or out of shape because they wanted a better life.  She was very picky and for that she is happy. She said many family members would pressure a woman into marrying an AM . But her parents supported her and did not pressure her to marry anyone she was not absolutely 100% sure of and in love with.

How often do you think marriages like that happen? Where the agency girls find the man of her dreams?

I sent this as a PM to Anna, but I thought she might respond to it on the boards...

Anna-

I'm so glad you're posting about being an Anastasia  lady. I've got a question for you, and you can either reply back to me personally, or post it on the discussion board. I want to contact a couple girls from A-Web, but I want to shift the correspondence with them off that site as soon as possible. How do I do this without seeming to the girls like I am cheap?

I don't mind paying for a translation service/agency fee - because I know the girls aren't going to have very good English, and I understand that the responsibility is on me to help them correspond. Can I ask them to use a smaller agency in their own city?

I guess I'm wanting to pay only a few letters worth (less than 10) to A-Web and then get them to a translator or small, local agency. How do you think the girls would feel about this.

I'm going to post this question to you on the forum so you can answer it either place.

Thanks!

Got the boots but no Harley Davidson bike. I do have a 1923 T-bucket which is a 1923 Ford model T thats hot rodded. It's louder and sounds meaner than Harley Davidsons. If you ever heard a NASCAR stock car up close, that's what it sounds like. It's got so much power that the whole car shakes on an idle. Unfortunately the chassis developed a crack and the radiator a slight leak, possibly due to the torque and horspower of the motor. Back in the old days, these cars had motors with 30-50 hp. The motor in it now is about 300 hp. 5 Ukrainian women have been passengers in the car and enjoyed the ride regardless of what type of footwear I had on. On a side note, I don't send pics like this to the ladies I write and my fiancee has never seen this pic or even know I own this car. I'm confident enough I can win a lady over with my character, not my possessions.

I haven't "fallen in love" with any girls because of their photos.  And I'm not going to dump money on A-web. Like I said, I might not spend any money there - ever.

I want to contact a couple girls from A-Web.  I guess I'm wanting to pay only a few letters worth (less than 10) to A-Web

Oh how a guy's mind can change based on the pretty pictures at AWeb. Now you should understand better Richard's frustration when he see's guys use agencies like Aweb when they know better. Never have any emotional attactment to a photo and profile. You want to write a few letters? Once you're hooked, you might find out this could get expensive and time consuming with nothing to show at the end. If you want maximum success in finding your life mate, why waste time and money, utilize other company's services. If you try to beat the system, you most likely be beat instead. AWeb isn't a juggernaught for nothing. It's already said, Aweb sends out intro letters on ladies behalf and ladies must write at a minimum "I'm not interested" letters that must be paid for to be read. Most ladies who are not interested never writes back to you and that's the way it should be. But Aweb doesn't make money if that happens.

Whatever Anna anwers to your questions, you must remember, Aweb consists of MANY smaller agencies. Each one will do things different and some more or less ethically than others. Anna's experience has to do with one out of over 100 smaller agencies.

Many men have walked through this minefield so you don't have to thedub. They have spoken and you could even google "Anastasiaweb anti scam" to learn more. Just remember this saying. "fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me". thedub, you are armed with knowledge, not just my opinion, what will you do with it? Apply it or ignore it?

Is this canned introductory letter composed by the woman herself, or is it made by Aweb? Does Aweb give an option for women at least to be the author of this letter?

JAG,
I had an opportunity to sit down and read over your thread.  I noticed we are in the same age range so maybe I can offer some relevant words.

The club scene you asked about is totally and completely different than what you are used to.  If you have done the clubs on Miami Beach it looks like that except more grand like Vegas.  So imagine the best Vegas clubs if you will but with people that look like they belong on Miami Beach (except they are white).  The best clubs are in Moscow and they are truly something out of this world, better than Amsterdam, London etc.

As far as the meat market thing, no clubs are totally not that way in Russia and guys are not hooking up with girls in the same way they do here.  Someone said they are more defensive, what she meant is they are not easy.  The bump and grind will not work on a unfamiliar RW.

How to dress?  Well George Clooney is a can't miss, but more practically, wear European clothing.  Jeans are the norm but you can't get them at Costco.  Have a look at your local Guess store to get an idea.  RW have a strong sense of fashion and even more so in our age range.  If an article costs less than $100, you will not get into above mentioned clubs.

Fortunately with RW, we get a pass on sense of style as long as it tends towards European and expensive looking.  I constantly got compliments there by all sorts of women I met on how I dont' look like an American and actually look like a well dressed man.  My secret?  I had my RW gal-friend help me choose some clothes!

Last but no least, if you have the time and money you can't afford to not go check this out.  Arm yourself with knowledge and get over there.  Scammers aren't really looking for guys like you so don't be too paranoid with girls.

Once again, I'd like to throw an advert out for Richard, using his agency is a great way to get your feet wet.  Tver still has loads of nice ladies and they will compete for a guy your age like you've never experienced.  They do find a younger man very attractive because its no longer necessary to marry for financial reasons and its a myth that ladies there like older men.

BillyB -

I appreciate what you're saying, and I understand Richard's frustration. And, yes, you've got a point: those d***ed pics on A-web are alluring. I'll also concede that you (and others) have given me very good advice: #1 - Don't fall in love with a picture and #2 - there's 10 zillion people who've been burned by A-web.

And I appreciate your advice. I really do!  :)

I'm also pretty confident that I can send and receive a few letters through there and not get addicted, or hung-up, or become a complete moron about it. I'm a smart guy. I've already googled and read a lot about how they run their business. And I've been reading here on RWD as well! I'm gonna go for it - write a few letters. FEW: meaning I'll set a dollar limit on myself and not go over it. Maybe it'll turn into a new thread: Watch "The Dub" willingly throw away his money like a schmuck. Even though he's been forewarned!

Bottom line is, I really do appreciate both your advice, and this forum in general. I'm probably a little more self-confident than your average newbie. I'm in my mid-30's; never been married; no kids; got a decent job and I'm pretty stubborn. I want to dabble in the Dark Empire of A-Web, just to experience it for myself. I don't see anything wrong with deciding I'll not spend more than $100 bucks over the course of a couple weeks and see what happens.

thedub, do come back and report your findings. I know I'm not going to stop everyone from using Aweb. What is my 3 years of reading and reflecting the bad experiences of men compared to the influence of a site full of women in bikinis and lingere with their legs spread open?

Keep in mind, Aweb's photos are photoshopped and professionally taken. If you ever meet a woman from there, expect her to look worse in person than in her photos. That is another disappointment men have spoken about dealing with Aweb.

Nope... not from the U of Washington. My screen-name is a reference to our Commander-in-Chief.

I will check out both those sites.

Actually, I think my first post in the Excursions of "The Dub" into Scammer-Ridden Agencies will be on GlobalLadies.com

If you are going to use Aweb than chances are you won't be talking to the woman.

My wife was looking for a part time job to keep her busy.  She wanted something that she could use English with.  Well most of the recruiters sent her to marriage agencies.  One was an aweb branch here in Odessa.

The job was basically writing letters for the women and answering calls pretending she was the woman.  Her job would have been to make the men fall in love with her so they would travel.  They wanted her to take home a bunch of cell phones with the ladies names and some information on the back of them.  Most of the ladies had husbands or boyfriends.

You can live in the fantasy world and think you are talking to the picture or you can live in reality and pick another agency.

Thomas

P.S.  She did not take the job.

Anna, is this true??? I've heard this stuff from men who got this info from lady acquaintances but I would like to hear it from yours, an actually lady that knows what's going on, not that I don't trust your husband.  ;)
