Gentlemen...Eat your heart out!
« on: October 07, 2007, 08:59:35 PM »
Hi All,

Kate and I are beginning our third football season of marriage.  Earlier this year, I purchased a new Sony Brevia TV as our old TV was on the blink.  A couple of weeks ago, I was watching one of the games when my wife walked in the room and said that the picture looked very clear.  (Like most Russian women, she refuses to wear her glasses unless driving.)  Anyway, she sat down and watch the game with me.  Then, she asked when the next game was on.  So, we watched Monday night football the next night.  This weekend, we watched about 4 hours of football together, and I'm not even counting the Monday night game!

For icing on the cake, she is even interested in getting a Bear's cheerleading outfit.  (Did I mention the side bets?)

Gentlemen, eat your heart out!

Todd

P.S.  Sorry, I couldn't resist a lighthearted post.

HAHAHAHA... Love it... good work Todd!

I think it'll be a long time until I get My Girl enthusiastic about football.  Maybe a new television is the way to go???   :D

Marina became a football fan for life with that exciting Cowboys-Bills game Monday night.  That excitment was just what it took to "hook" her  :D

Even better, as a Cowboy fan, she'll will be wearing a Cowboy's Cheerleader outfit!   :D ;D :D

Simoni: Obviously I speak of another code of football, but I took mine to the regional grand final of the season a few days back and her conclusion was that she didn't much like the game because she didn't fully understand the rules etc, but she was sure keen to go again as she enjoyed the excitment of the event.

BTW I like her much better when she is NOT wearing a cheerleaders outfit.....or any other outfit for that matter. :P :-*

Told my finacee I was at the Ohio St/Washington football game a few weeks ago. She said she'd be interested in going to a game when she gets here. I hope she likes watching NASCAR too.

The cheerleading outfits and role playing sound too kinky for me. I'll settle for Victoria Secrets though.

That is awesome. I love post like this... Todd do you really think she enjoys football? Maybe she simply likes speeding time with you. I think you should try to respond to her interest by spending some time enjoying some of her hobbies. I am jealous of you.. I can not wait until my GF gets here, hopefully in January. In 37 days we are meeting in Moscow and then traveling to Egypt but who's counting the days.

Congrats

Very encouraging news, Todd! My sports include baseball and hockey. I thought
that the hockey might be in her blood, but alas, no dice. Fortunately, we share a
love of gymnastics and figure skating, so we enjoy those together. If I could just get
her to appreciate the excitement of a 4 on 3 power play, I'd be in deep cotton.

Yeah, Todd, I'm eating my heart out, you're a lucky man.

Yep, she is a BIG fan of your style of football, as many in Ukraine are.  I think that is transfering over to American football.

Cheerleader's outfit?  Same here!  ;D  LOL

Funny, BillyB.  We must be on the same wave length.  A couple days ago I wrote about the crab pot in my blog, and you wrote about the crab pot at the same time in a post.  Today I blogged about Victoria's Secret, and now you have the same thoughts :-)

Today I blogged about Victoria's Secret,

Hot Damn, I just read your latest entry and when my fiancee gets here, I'm taking her straight to Victoria's secret at the local mall. She's going to need a new wardrobe and I'll tell her that place has everything she'll ever need.

Scott,
But what a present to unwrap!!!!!!!!!! yeow!

Lena's take on American sports

Hockey- I too thought she would like it but only so so with it.  We attended a few Red Wings games back when they had a lot of Russian players, but still no go for her.

Baseball- Lena was totally bored out her mind at her first game in Detroit.  But she kind of got into it last playoff season when I was following the Tigers, She asked a lot of good questions and seem to enjoy the games.  Of course beating the Yankees and having a walk off home run to win the league championship didn't hurt.  ;D  We attended an Angels game against the Tigers this summer in Anaheim and she really got into it. (Nothing hotter than a blond blue eyed Russian chick with a ballcap)

Football- Lena loves to watch the goal line stands with the running backs crashing into or leaping over the pile of linemen.

Basketball- Again, attended a few games back in Detroit and she enjoyed them.  Will get into the playoffs if the Pistons are involved.

Todd,

My girl has proposed me getting her a cheerleader outfit after learning about my "other" obsession.  However, I've had zero luck in finding one.  Seems they are made for kids only.  Let me know where you find it if you really get one.

Thanks!

DKVM:  I haven't been able to find adult sized cheerleader's outfits.  Ironically, it seems much easier to buy used ones on E-bay than it is to buy new ones from a site such as NFL.com.  Given her hygeine sensibilities, a used one is never going to happen.  Besides, I think the used ones are for the pervs anyway.

To all, the comment that my wife responded to the most was the point about togetherness.  A big part of watching footballl IS being able to spend time with me. Also, the good thing about football is that it provides a great deal of time to talk...between plays...commercials...halftime.  I think that she will grow to like football a little more as she understands it more and might even watch a big game alone in the future.

Finally, one of the big reasons that we got a big screen tv is my watching Kate's reaction to the first time that she saw a big screen, high def program.  We were visiting friends who had one, and my wife noticed a Discovery channel wildlife show on.  Her eyes locked on the show immediately.  In fact, I would say her favorite show ever was Planet Earth in High Def.  If you haven't had a chance to check it out and have a high def CD player, I think that this would make the ultimate Christmas gift.  I generally don't watch many of these shows and even I was very impressed.

Marina thinks football is such a "cruel" sport! She says "oh, no!" when there is a crushing hit.  I say "YES!"

One of my wife's first purchases when she arrived here was a stylish red NY Yankees baseball cap with faux gems sewed into the fabric. She thought the embroidered "NY" simply stood for "New York City." Now, whenever she wears it men think she's a Yankees fan and come up to talk to her (with the intention of flirting rather than talking about sports, of course).

Sometimes you just get lucky.  I married into football and didn't know it at the time.  My wife's son (ours now) has grown to 6'6", 270 pounds and is an offensive lineman (freshman on the bench this year).  The advantage is we get free season passes to college games and the wife wants to go.  She loves watching the cheerleaders, I love watching the game.  Now you have me wondering what she might look like in a cheerleader outfit.

DKMM if you run into problems finding that cheerleader outfit my wife was a seamstress in her previous life.

That's because the Bears cheerleaders, (The Honey Bears), were let go a few years ago because the McCaskey family wanted a more fan friendly environment.  However, you could buy her a Devin Hester jersey and she'll look sexy as hell in it.   :devilish:
