Russian translation software

Do any of you know of or have experience with any software that would allow me to use my laptop like one would use an ECTACO spoken translator? In other words, use the microphone and speakers on the laptop to speak a Russian word and have an English translation in audio playback.

There are many different ways to say words in Russian, including hunderds of dialects, so I imagine it would be quite hard to make a good program like that.

I had an ectaco translator back in the olden days. I can still remember sitting naked in bed with a
girl one night passing it back and forth until it got light out. I stopped dating women who didn't
speak any English, well before Google translate was any good.

I remember the old timey trick was to translate it forward and backwards a couple times to get the
words just right. Even now you can make a very serious error in translation easy enough. My Angel
Eyes still misunderstands me from time to time. At least once a week, we go to Google translate
to figure something out. We've been married for 10 years.
