Misuse of Profile
« on: November 11, 2007, 01:13:09 AM »
Hi there, I hope this is the right forum to post this.

Years back, I've posted my profile in one of the russian dating sites (Anastasia, I believe) without really knowing what I'm getting myself into. I have removed it long since then (as I've found someone I liked).

But now, my profile has been cropping up in some other russian dating sites, none of which I've registered, or even heard of before. Worse still, these profiles can be found listed on Google when my name is searched. This has caused me a lot of personal problems.

I've contacted those websites to ask them to remove my profiles. But they keep on cropping up again and again.

Is there some way to stop this from happening? Do they have some huge database of men's profiles they use?

Thanks for any help or advice!

First of all, Anastrasia is feeding mens profiles to a lot of websites. You might want to start their.
Next, if you ask for removal make sure to include some legal threat, and request to disclose from where they got it.

If you can be sure that they copied your profile from a site, contact the owner of the site where you originally added the profile and ask for their help as it will be likely that a number of profiles were 'stolen'.

No it is not a dog. Its really how I look.  ;)

Mikbro,

You are not alone.  I registered with Cindy, Elena's Models, Free Personals and a couple of others that I never used.

Now I am inexplicably on Anastasia Web (or at least getting mail from them), something with a "VIP" in it,  and a couple of others.  I never registered, yet there is my photo and profile..

Never give your real name to any agency.  If they require a name, make something up and change your email settings to not show your real name.  Nothing good can happen, and some bad things can.

Shadow> Thanks for the fast reply! I did consider including some legal threat. However, a few of the offending sites are russian in origin (e.g. www.svadba.com), and I suspect they'd just laugh off any legal threats, although I hope I'm wrong. Would you know of any organizations or entities that can really carry out a legal threat in such circumstances?

Gator> Yeah, you're right not to disclose too much info to such agencies. I was pretty uninformed and lacking common sense on the whole situation back then (in short, dumb), and am now paying the disproportionately heavy price...

Sometimes, threatening to contact their hosting company can help.

good advice. I do not use my real email address or last name. I get 20 letters a day from ukraineladies and army of brides. I stopped checking that email because letters are mostly from scammers.

Gator, were u in soviet military?

I've never posted a profile anywhere yet I got listed on some agency sites and still get letters from women I never written to. As a matter of fact, I got a letter yesterday. Originally I sent out letters to hundreds of women in 2005. I suspect some of the profiles were not women at all but agencies that were collecting men's personal data and listing it or a person collecting info and making a profit selling it to agencies.

Never use your real or full name on a profile. Something like "Billy B" is fine. Also use an email address that is different than what you use for your personal or business life.

Scuba Don, you're probably a good looking guy getting 20 letters a day from those agencies.  ;) I hope you realize any agency sending you 20 letters a day is not a trustworthy agency.

This dilemma is even more fun when you're married and have to explain to your wife why you're getting almost daily emails with photos of pretty rW  :wallbash:

Better turn of the search urge, Groove.  Crank of that email filter.  Your wild and free days are over!   And you better hide those knives from your kitchen, too!  ;D

I haven't browsed a singles or agency site in at least two years, yet my email address seems to have been sold to various agencies long ago (one with a name something like 'nuderussianbrides.com').

For guys just beginning their search, I'd recommend opening a new email account that you can use exclusively for writing to women.

groov,

I still get them after being married for close to 3 years now. And yes, they still do raise eyebrows.

Help yourself to the money
« Reply #12 on: November 12, 2007, 01:42:02 PM »
I used a different email address for agencies.  Thus, I don't get anything from agencies.  However, once every week or two, I get something like this...

Dearest One,

Permit me to inform you of my desire of going into a relationship with you. Which to my best of knowledge will establish an everlasting relationship between me and your family.
I am Julliet Chea the only daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs.Richard K.Chea,a devoted chritian who went on helping people but later was disapointed by his close relatives and bussiness friends.

My father was a very wealthy cocoa merchant in Abidjan; the economic capital city of Ivory Coast, my father was poisoned to death by his business associates on one of their outings on a business trip.

My mother as well died when I was a baby and since then, before the death of my father, that was after the death of my mother,my father took me so special before his unfortunate death that kept me an ophan today without mother, without father and without brothers and sisters.

Before the death of my father on March 2004 in a private hospital here in Abidjan he secretly called me on his bed side and told me that he has the sum of ($10,500, 000) which he deposited in a suspense account in one of the prime bank here in Abidjan cote d' Ivoire That he used my name as his only daughter for the next of Kin in depositing the money in the account.

He also explained to me that it was because of this Money that he was poisoned by his business associates. That I should seek for a foreign partner in a country of my choice where i will transfer the fund into for investment. I am honourably seeking your assistance in the following ways.

(1) To serve as My guardian and foreign trustee to enable the Bank transfer the money to you on my behalf, since I am only 20 years old.

(2) To make arrangement for me to come over to your country to further my education and to secure a resident permit in your country. Moreover, I am willing to offer you 20% commission of the total sum as compensation for your effort/input after the successful transfer of this fund into your nominated account in your country.

Furthermore, you indicate your options towards assisting me as I believe that this transaction would be concluded within a shortest period so that I will come over to your country. Upon your interest and Anticipating to assist me, I look forward to your further word with interest.

I am assuring you of a hundred percent riskfree in the course of transfering this fund for i have every legal backing concerning the deposition of the money.

Thanks and God bless.

Sincerely,

Julliet Chea.

I am rather busy and did not have time to respond to dear Julliet.  Anyone here is free to do so and reap the rewards :-)
