Conditional Permanent Resident Card and EAD Renewal
« on: November 12, 2007, 08:53:43 AM »
Hello all,

My wife's EAD card is coming up for renewal - I am pretty sure about this but I would like confirmation.

She has her conditional Permanet Resident Card (Green Card) that expires in March of '09 (we will petition to have the conditional statrus removed prior to that time) -

Am I correct that she does NOT need a new EAD card since she has her Green Card?

I would appreciate any help on this,

Thanks,

Paul Doolittle

My understanding is that as long as she has her conditional green card and a social security number that's all she needs to work.  No EAD renewal required.

Hey Paul,

Hope all is going well for you. Scott is correct. No need to renew the EAD as long as she has her GC. Having it shows that her status is legal here for working.

Long time, Paul! How've you been?

I'm no expert but it was always my understanding that the
Green Card, even though conditional, precluded the need
for EAD (and Advance Parole for that matter). In itself the
card implies the right to be here - and the right to work...

...and apparently 2 very reliable members have gotten on board ahead of me!

I'll fourth or fifth what the guys above said.

When my wife and I went for our AOS interview the first thing the interviewer did was confiscate her EAD card, saying "you won't need this anymore." And she hasn't :)
