Freedom- you can do your own research and trace her IP address to verify her email address on this web site for free. http://network-tools.com/

I post this for everyones benefit, hope it helps! Please don't misuse this info and get yourselves in trouble.

Best of luck,
Michael

Detective 101

1. Go to the website http://network-tools.com/

2. Enter her email address and click "Verify email address"
Results will look like this:

results will trace her to her domain and show her IP address.

3. Insert her IP address in search and click " who is" and the results will show something like this here below and you will  have all her info on your screen.  The double check this with her email. Open her email and click the tool bar " View" then it opens a new window and then scroll down to see her IP address and verify that it actually came from her and not some scam house in other cities. People will say anything in emails and most anyone will believe them.  But we know better,,, :-)

I have done this with every woman I write and so far I have not found one who is a scammer,  all have been honest and exactly who they say they are. But it never hurts to do a little detective work.  Never say a word to her that you did a back round check.  Showing distrust will end it before it begins.  Any ladies reading this, for your benefit, use it on the men you are writing.

so true AJ,, if you both speak the same language and both of you have a phone.

Most women I've contacted by email give me their phone numbers  but don't speak enough English to carry on a conversation. They are embarrassed to talk on the phone. To rely on my poor Russian is a mistake.  Much smarter for me to date women who are more fluent in English.

The idea behind this search is to see if she is honest.  If she tells you she lives in Piter and her email server pings in Moscow, then we have a problem. A woman who says she is from a certain city should match the mail server in that city. (small cities will use the closest large city server)   If her email address is not verified, it may be masked by common programs scammers use to stay hidden. In new "friendships" its wise to check them out before speinding a dime on a call. Skype works well for cheap calls but,, do you want to waste the effort, time and money talking to a player for 3 weeks only to find out she has taken you for a ride?

This one works even better and pin points her location on the map.  Just copy/paste the header from her email into the box and it traces exact location of the sending computer.

Mishinka, some of those sites aren't always accurate. I just put in my fiancee's header into that site and it gave me a map of Moscow. I just called her 12 hours ago and will call again in a few minutes. I'm sure she's still in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. Keep in mind, much of the e-mail traffic in the FSU does run through Moscow first before arriving to it's destination.

Mischenka and Billyb,

About IP I would like to give some more information. The IP shows the server the PC is connected to, not the PC it self.
This means that if someone in Tashkent uses a Moscow based provider, chances are the location is shown as Moscow.
As the FSU does not yet have the wide server network as the US or Europe, locations can be off by a long shot. And even in case of my own IP I seem to move from Amsterdam to Utrecht to Rotterdam on regular basis, although my IP is stable.

However IP can show a number of other things. It will show the mail program used, or if a message was sent by webmail. It will show the IP of the originating PC, which mean it can be determined if it was sent from a LAN or a single computer. It will show the type of connection, dialup or stable. By combining all of this with a number of other things in the header it can be determined from what type of place the message was sent. A home computer has a different 'fingerprint' as an internet cafe or a university computer.

However the IP is just one thing that can help in finding out if what (s)he writes is consistent with what you can find about her.

Now Mischenka, in what you give as information you only verify if the mail adress is reachable, and if the mail server is the same as the one that delivered the mail to you. In what you posted you have given out more information about yourself than you can find about the mail address that you traced.

Freedom,

Please click on the 10 Commandments (upper left of your screen).  Read Number 6 again.

I don't have much faith in this one.  Here is a woman living in a decaying village without a phone, yet she is able to speak Deutsch and can find you on a German internet dating site from an internet café???

What is so special about this woman?  How is she different from other women?   Other RW?  If you can not explain with anything other than gut feelings, you have got a bad case of RW fever.  It happened too fast.

If this woman is really into your head, you need to talk with her.  She can give you a friend's number where you could call her at a preset time.

Something tells me you are in a rebound from a failed marriage.  Most of us have been there before.  Men are very vulnerable in this period.   Pardon my personal questions:

-  How much dating have you done since your divorce?
-  Have you fallen in love with a woman since divorce?
-  Have you even had an intimate relationship with someone who liked you?

Neither do I.  Freedom is close enough that a weekend excursion would answer all his questions.  This is one of those situations where a fellow needs to either do his business or get off the pot.

I fear this is another of those cases where a pretty picture and a few words of love send a guy off into a fantasy they are afraid to give up. Even with a 99% surety that it isn't real, they will cling to that 1%.  Just too many things about this picture, even with the limited information, that smell fishy.  I notice that he is reluctant to send excerpts of her letters or photos.  I think this is because he is afraid that we might actually find something wrong and then his fantasy will be gone before he is prepared to let it go.

I think there must be some formula for determining the number of red flags men are willing to overlook.  Maybe a direct correlation to the 1-10 looks rating.  If she's a 10, then men will overlook 10 flags.  If she's a nine, then 9 will be ignored, etc....

Friends.....first I want to thank all for the warnings. I get a letter from her were she told me about differend things from her goldfishes , her girlfriends, her mother etc....it sounds not like a profesional gangster. The pictures look not proffesional. Well, she is a beauty but like I said the pictures look not proffesional. She told me she really want to talk to me, she want my phone-number....what do you think....should I give her my phone number? She answers my letters, I cant help it she sounds honest. Well, you never know for sure but I think if you are not able to trust someone for 10 or 15 % then you are maybe to paranoid. Well, like I said in my other posts I will send no money until I have that woman in my arms. Thats for sure. I think maybe she is afraid to give her phone-number or maybe she has really no phone....I see also a big risk for that woman because she dont know me.....thats the funny thing, at least we have nearly the same prob :D....crazy internet :D....however I think as long as I send no money Iam not in Danger...or?

Freedom, I hope that this isn't a scam, but I am going to continue to play the devil's advocate if you don't mind.

First, the fact that she writes such long detailed letters says nothing about her legitimacy.  If anything, it suggests otherwise as from what I have seen, scammers tend to write such letters very early on while sincere RW tend to write shorter letters and then add more later (this is not universal, but just a tendency that I have noted.  Maybe others would disagree).  Scammers also tend to get very mushy early on.

Not all scammer photos look professional.  You will see all kinds from stolen model photos to "the girl next door" types.  Scammers use them all knowing that men will be attracted to different photos.

You're talking 10-15% trust but I think the odds are much lower than that.  Even so, the odds are still 85-90% against you.  I don't see this as being paranoid.  If the odds were 85% that I wouldn't come out of a situation in good shape I would consider it prudent to avoid it, not paranoid.

I see no reason why you shouldn't give your phone number if you are intent on moving forward.  However, if you are paying for interpretation services then in a way you are sending money.  Also, it's one thing to pay to obtain a woman's contact information, but if you are continually paying for things such as letter translation, etc., then someone is making money off you and with many agencies, that is their whole reason for being.

Why are you reluctant to send some excerpts of her letters so we can help you check them out?  Have you googled any of the phrases in these letters yourself?  Have you searched the scam sites for her hotos? If not, why?  It's the quickest way to learn if it's legitimate or not. I'm sensing that you really don't want to know.  Wouldn't it be a lot better to know now if it's a scam so you can move on to a woman who is equally as desirable but is actually real?

Ok, the name of my advocate is Jesus Christus. ;)
Scottin, you know so much more about this things. I will spend money for some letters and for a trip to zvenigovo. Well if you try to find a woman in germany you also have to spend money and if the hot-dancing-night is over she maybe goes with another nice guy and there you see 150-200 Euro fly away....life is pain you know. You never know for sure....your whole life. The only thing that kills me is I wanna know if she is real or just a pic....if I think I write love -letters to an ugly guy ( or gay brrrr)  :D. Scotti what do you think about my Idea with the actual newspaper-pic...is it to rude to ask for sauch a pic? I would send the same pic. I think that could help a little or...?

Freedom you are losing out either way. If she is sincere and finds out you to suspect her of being a scammer, she will be offended and you lose her. If she is a scammer, you will get the money letter and you dump her.

While you are playing around, better look for another candidate that does not show red flags.

I told her the first day I suspect her of being a scammer. If she cant handle that I would say have a nice day. Iam 100% HONEST and she can also ask me all. I dont look for sexuall-adventures and I dont wanna buy a horse or a dog....I look for a proud woman who is willing to spend the rest of her life with me. And BTW  ....a candidate without any red flag....is that possible?

If you told her and she continues to write you... not a lot of doubt in my mind that she is.
Try it on a sincere woman and the result is going to be spectacular.  :cluebat:
Even the gentlest RW will make sure you never hear the end of your suspicion.

Actually I do not know if a candidate without anything that is listed as red flag is possible, but perhaps you can fill in the 'scam card' on this site and check out the score.

You will never end up with a proud woman if you tell her things like that.

It seems like you are overly worried about being scammed in which case this endeavor may not be for you. All you are going to do is piss off some sincere women with your rude comments.  Go back to dating local woman.

Cool down. She understands that Iam afraid and carefull. She is smart like most RW . She  told  me the problem is that  many Russian men are not smart and with feeling. Therefore, Russian women often search foreign men. Well, I cant say if its true or not but one thing is for sure in many  many cases RW are not the scammers. In many cases russian men use pics and try to cheat people from all over the world. So whats your prob Thomas from ukrain....Iam not good for your busines or what? Be a little gentle with gentle people like me. ;D.....and after all I never came on here to date russian woman...a russian woman (I hope it is a woman ;D ) ask me for a friendship or maybe more. After that I ask here for Support. And what can I say...only kind and friendly people who helped me a lot...thanks for that. And Thomas....be gentle life is to short to be angry....

She told me she really want to talk to me, she want my phone-number....what do you think....should I give her my phone number?

why havn't you already?

it's not too big of risk to supply your number ;)

while i agree that it's most likely a scam..
having a RW call you isn't the worst thing that will happen in your day..
if it's a scam it might waste a little time is all..

(and it is time you'll spend trying to sort this out anyway,
 since she's caught your interest)

if she's sincere, wouldnt you like to speak to her on the phone?
whats the big deal?  ;)
it's just a simple phone conversation, neither of you will be giving up secrets of your countries security?  :D

how's her level of german or english?
