Interview requirements assistant!!
« on: July 02, 2005, 07:01:57 AM »
Hello Everyone.:)

I'm very new to this site and would like some assistant. I do not know if this would be the correct site to seak some help , however I will try here first. IMy Russian lady is getting ready for her interview at the US Emssay on Moscow in August. Sh ereceived the packet of information required to have on hand for her interview. I went to the embassy web site and read the required documents:

List of Documents for Fiance(e) Visa Interview

A valid International Passport with a photocopy of the first page.
An original birth certificate with its photocopy and translation into English.
Police certificates in all names as well as all dates of birth ever used. Police certificate must contain references to each place (subject to the jurisdiction of the Russian Federation) in which the applicant lives or has lived for more than six months since attaining the age of 16. This includes localities where applicants have lived during university studies. If the applicant was on military service, he/she should bring the certificate from the local draft board. If an applicant has lived abroad for more than one year, a police certificate must also be submitted from the country in which he/she lived. Police certificate validity is one year since the date of issuance.
Evidence of termination of prior marriage (if applicable), original, photocopy and translation into English.
Accompanying child requires a valid passport (or may be included in the parent's passport), a birth certificate and a medical examination. If a child is 16 years of age or over, police certificates are required. Translations of the indicated documents are required as well.
3 black-and-white or color photos taken against a white or off - white background (5 x 5 sm) for visa.
3 photos of passport size for medical exam.
Visa application fee of $100 (or the ruble equivalent) per person, payable at the Embassy on the day of interview.
Documents confirming relationship: photos of Petitioner and Beneficiary together, letters to each other, phone bills, airplane tickets, emails, etc. (K3 applicants should present marriage certificate).
Results of Medical Examination in a sealed envelope.
Financial documentation from the petitioner may include but is not limited to employment letter for the petitioner with salary information and/or a copy of tax returns (Form 1040) for the last year, bank statement, W-2s. I-134 Affidavit of Support is not required but may be requested by a consular officer.
DHL receipt to confirm you paid for visa delivery. The fee can be paid at one of the DHL offices.

The question I ask:
1- Does anyone know if there are any other documents required besides these listed on there web-site???

2- Would it be necessary to call there 800 # and be charged $1.75 a minute to ask them about this instead???

The reason I ask on this last question is because I talked to someone els and was informed that if I call I would get the same response as on there site.

If I have interrupted anyone on this site , then My apologies. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks
SalsaUno

I think that pretty well covers it.  When in August is your interview?  My gal has hers on the 26th of July.

The police certificate and the medical exam are the things she needs to provide other than the basic stuff.   The place with Medico in the name is the best place for the exam.  They don't give you the results till the next day though.

Do you have any questions about what you need to go along with the I-134?

I will try to help you any way I can.

Hello Torboguy.

Thanks for your reply. You say a place called medico is where you recommend for her exam in Moscow???

On the web- site it says the I-134 form is not required , however may be asked for. So is this one of those issues where you should have it with her just in case?? I appreciate your info. on this.

Thanks

You may not need it but I most of the guys I talk to have one ready just in case.   As long as your income is 125 percent of the poverty level it is not supposed to be required.   I plan to have that, to have it properly notarized, to have the emplyer letter, the bank letter, copies of my last three paycheck stubs, a statement from my stockbroker, copies of some of my bank statements, my last 1040 actually I will have my last three with her.

I will have a new letter of intent, copies of my airline tickets and boarding passes, photos of us togeher, from each of my trips with dates and places where I can, copies of the bill for flowers for Valentines and a womens day, copies of messages,

One other document that is required. If she is divorced, not only must she bring divorce decree, but she must also bring with her a notarized translation of form stating her previous names. She can get this from same place, usually where marriage and divorce records are kept. My fiance went to interview on thursday. She did not have this document. They still approved visa, but will not send her passport with visa  until they receive that form from her. She also forgot translation of divorce decree and her birth certificate, but they allowed her to leave embassy, get it translated and notarized, and they let her back in. So she must make a return trip to Kiev next week and bring that form with all of her previous name to them in person. She can not fed ex it or have someone else deliver it.

Hi Turboguy

thanks for the information, Now I will make sure of these other things. yes, My income is a lot more then the 2005 poverty level.  No problem on this. I will pay attention to those details also. I have one more question if I may and that is: is there any american living in Moscow that you know of that can direct me to the nearest hotel to the US Embassy besided the Bukarest hotel.

Due to my Lady will be staying at the hotel on the last day of her stay besides her friends home. The bukarest hotel has no rooms avail on her dates and this is the hotel she knows that is close to the embassy. The USEmbassy send me a list of about 8 hotels, however I do not know which ones are near the Embassy or do you know of any that is at lease have desent  close to the Embassy??

Thanks

Hello Wxman.

Thanks you for your reply. Well She never married however I 'm divorce so I guess I will have to send her a copy of my divorce document. Now I do not know if it has to be translated into Russian of just regular English as is??. I appreciate your information on this. Now I just need to make reservations in a hotel that is close by.

Thanks

Since your divorce decree is in English, you are fine. Does not need to be translated to Russian.

My gal and I are stying at the Ukraina.  It is one of the closer hotels to the embassy.  I just booked my rooms this week so you should be fine.   I used http://www.hotelsrussia.com to make my reservation.   I also booked my transer from the airport to the hotel with them.   It was about $ 43.00 and saves fooling with those pesky cab drivers.

Be careful on your divorce decree.  It can not be a copy.   It has to be the real thing, with a seal or whatever they use there.   If you don't know where yours is you can get one from your local court house.   I had to do that and they charged me $ 4.00 which is not bad.   A photo copy is not acceptable.

You do not need to have it translated into Russian.

Hello Turboguy.

I understand on the hotel and web site. Thanks you for this information which is very important. The transfer, well she will be on train instead and I will  not be there with her due to my work. and the divorce pars I will go and get an original copy made and send it to her for I did not know copies were not aceptable. I will also have the I-134 form just in case they ask her for it. The letter of employment requested. Is this just a verification of employment letter stating that I work for such employer or does it have to have something specific on it???

Thanks

The letter should state that you work for the company, how long you have worked for company, and your current income. Your immediate supervisor should date and sign it, or human resources, etc. Make sure it is on their letterhead.

Salsauna is imployed my acme sauna company as a marketing manager.  He has worked here since Febuary 30, 1998 and has a salery of 27 million a year.

Sincelry

xxx.

You should also have a letter from your bank

It should be addresssed similar and should say  Salsauna has an account with us.  His account was opend on Febuary 31st, 2003.   His current balance is $ 3.00  His total deposits for the past 12 months are $ 12,345.00

Sincerly

You might want to do a new letter of intent but I am not sure if you will need it.  It takes 5 minutes and she will have it if she does.

The "good" place for the medical exam is Medinitsa Clinic the other cool thing is that the DHL office is right down the street so she can do both at the same time. Any of the hotels on Arbat are close, and hotel Ukrainia is only about a 3/4 mile walk. The same metro station used to get to the zoo is about 2 blocks from the embassy so any hotel close to a metro station is close to the embassy :D.

My experience with the clinic was limited to sitting out front of it in a cab while my gal ran in for her results.   It looked cleaner and more modern than most US clinics.   They give you the results the following day.   One of the other clinics gives them the same day and it is a few bucks cheaper but they are not as well liked.  They seem not to be real polite from what I hear.   If you need them the same day then ask when you set the appointment.

The Ukraina is the only hotel I see that advertieses itself as "close to the embassy"   I am not aware of anything closer and Jet is right it looks like about 3/4 mile.

Yes, it is one of the three aproved clinics in Moscow.   I am pretty sure Jet and I are talking about the same place.  I may have been off a letter or two in my spelling.   I have listing someplace.

Yes, Medinitsa is ultra clean and ultra modern, it looks better than some hospitals I've been to in the states. I went inside with my wife to pick up the results the following day. It is located just off Tverskaya-Yamskaya (not to be confused with Tverskaya Ulitsa)

Some other hotel choices include:

Mir

This one is about half way between the embassy and hotel Ukrainia and is charging @ 90/nt in July/Aug

http://www.hotelsrussia.net/htm/MOS292.htm

Moscow Central Hotel
The Belgrad Hotel is located in the very center of Moscow not far from the American Embassy and the Russian White House.

http://www.destinationrussia.com/htm/BELMCW.htm

This one is about the same distance from the embassy as hotel Ukrainia and is charging @ $120/nt in August

**the websites shown above DO NOT necessarily have the best price for these hotels, but they have a good description.

There was also a HOTEL VEGA that was popular for those going to the embassy 2 years ago but I could not find current info on it.
