   Hello everyone. As you can see from the subject, my name is Tim.  I am a pilot in the US Army and very recently divorced after 12 years. I fell in love with a bikini. With the whole Iraq thing going on I have been away from home a lot. Actually I am in Iraq now for a few more months. Wife developed honesty and faithfulness issues. I am sure you can figure out the rest.

   I have been considering the possibility of finding someone internationally. I have been looking around the internet the past couple of months to learn more. I have even signed up for a couple of sites, to include Elena's. I found a sight that suggested I find a forum such as this to learn from those that have gone through this. So here I am.

   I have exchanged emails with a few girls already from a few different sites. Beautiful women, perfect profiles and emails, but I am intelligent enough to know that the chances are they are not real. I will remain hopeful and skeptical at the same time until we shake hands. I look forward to learning from your experience.

Hello Tim, Thank you for your service defending our country and our way of life. I am a former AH-1 & UH-1 driver myself . US Army Retired. I am sorry to hear about your life being turned around it happens to many without much notice.

   These women that you write for the most part are very real. Some are not so real so watch what you say and what is being said to you. You will learn a lot here as long as you listen, think and then act. There are also many former military types that hang around and post some very good information. Glad to see you here and welcome aboard. Don't be afraid to ask any questions..Cheers Patrick

Welcome to RWD.

Life can be a b!tch sometimes and you military guys know that better than any of us. Marriages can disappear when we least expect it. Such is life but if resolved within it can be the begining rather than the end of an era.

First clue here it to go to the FAQ section and read it end to end a couple of times. It is not a huge time investment and you will find yourself thinking very much more practically about all of this.

Doubtless you will come back with a host of specific questions.  Those of us with experience (And some without..go figure) in given subjects or locations will be more than happy to help. Remember, the only really dumb question is the one not asked. Just be prepared to accept the answers as they come and you will gain much from here.

Thanks Guys. I do have some grand disires in what I would love to find in my next (and hopefully last) wife. Beauty, intelligent, honest, faithful with a  great personality. At the same time I consider myself a realist and know that the perfect woman might not exist (or at least I might not get her).  When you read some of those profiles it does seem that there are many perfect women in Ukraine. I will find out first hand over time.

I have been reading through several of the posts that some have put on this forum and it really seem that many of you give straight forward advise. I have done and will do much reading on this and other sites before asking questions. I am sure you will be a huge help.

Just my opinion, but there are stupid questions. It would be the one that is asked because you are to lazy to try to find the answer first yourself. No excuse for laziness.

Welcome to RWD Tim,

 Lots of incredible information here and a lot of hard truths as well. Spend some time reading here to get a good feel for how it works and what is involved. FAQs and Trip Reports are a great place to start.

 If you don't mind some un-RW advice/concern: I would suggest that you take some time after your deployment is done to mourn the loss of your marriage. I know it may seem like everything has been done and said but to be healthy to you and to your future you really should give yourself some introspection time.

Welcome to RWD and please accept my thanks and appreciation for the job you are doing in Iraq.  You make sacrifices many of us never will but be assured we think of you and respect you greatly.
Sadly our new Federal Government in Australia have declared they will pull our combat troops out of Iraq by mid-next year.  Our representation has always been a pittance but a sign of our support for your effort. Please be assured that virtually every person I speak to at home believe our men should stay there with you men - but we have new "leaders" now and I'm sure it won't be the only dumb thing they do! 

On the topic of RW (the reason you're here) I saw one sentence in your intro that I thought I might comment on.

Please be aware that all profiles and all letters are only a persons statements about themselves or their lives.  It doesn't make it true or real.  As you sift through emails and phone calls you MIGHT identify the real ones... and if you do you'll know it when you meet.  Take you time.. do the research... and make sure you're ready after the end of your prior relationship because this journey is difficult and tiring. 

There are many here that will give you good advice and I'm sure you'll identify the goofy advice pretty quickly too!

The women from Elena’s Models are real.  Whether you will like them (or they will like you) after a meeting is another matter.    What are your other agencies?

I will remain hopeful and skeptical at the same time until we shake hands.

Proper attitude.  RW can be fun, so be sure to take a relaxed, adventurous attitude with you too and enjoy your time together.  Do not become paranoid about scams.  The scammers are self-evident if you do not fall in love immediately.  I never encountered a scammer and I dated many RW.

Beauty, intelligent, honest, faithful with a  great personality.

There is plenty of beauty to pursue.  Your other four qualities … well, that will take time to determine.  These qualities vary widely from woman to woman.

Intelligence – Overall I would say RW are intelligent, perhaps having an edge over AW.  I dated only women with university degrees and not all of them had street smarts, which I consider more important than book smarts.

Honesty – RW tend to be direct and forthright, to the point of being blunt, which I like.  As with most AW, they do not necessarily volunteer what you would like to know. 

Faithful – This depends on what she feels about you, how you treat her, and her commitment to your relationship.  Also, women change.

Personality - This varies widely.  What do you mean by “great”.  RW are somewhat different from AW.  RW have a lot of pride, and consequently I have found several RW who are confident and emboldened.   SOH is part of personality, and a RW’s SOH frowns on some American humor, finding it silly.  Yet, they revel in sarcasm, which I also enjoy.  I found RW more reserved, composed and serious than AW (probably because life is more difficult and the women I dated being older).  Nevertheless, when you can manage to entice them to let their hair down, they let loose in remarkable ways and are merry and free-spirited.  I still marvel how they can take a leak in public behind a tree without hesitation or complaint.

First, let me say thank you so much for your service to our country.  I appreciate it and so do my sons.  I am ex Air Force so I can some what understand the sacrifice you are a making for me and my family and I truly appreciate your service.  Semper Fi is a term that transcends the Corp.  Thank you!!!!!

As for your search, well, these folks here can be a so much help.  I just found this forum a few weeks ago and these folks have been a tremendous asset to me.  Just ask and they will step up and help!  Great bunch of folks here.  The ladies who are on this forum are just wonderful and can and do help us men figure out the error of our thoughts.

Hey Tim,,,,Keep safe and thanks. I'm former Army(MP Va Nat Guard),my son just finished USMC boot camp and is going to be a cook. Will prob do one tour by mid-end of 2008. My wife is from Ukraine. The best country since no Visa is required. Look around Kiev areas since that is the airport you will fly into. Take your time and dont rush it. You are young enough to do it right. Dont send any money to anyone till you meet them in person.  BTW what do you fly??
