Marriage for visa and residence.
« on: December 16, 2007, 08:27:39 AM »

 Hi,
I am married to a Russian woman. I have noticed that each time she gets closer to achieving residence her attitude changes. I have been doing this for 6 years. I have eventually got her to admit that she wants residence only and is not interested in me anymore.I had suspected this . I have met many Russian women that live in Ireland and they are mostly just looking for a visa or residence from the man. They are cold selfish people really.  They are HOT yes but this dies away .....
A word of warning to all, keep your eyes open.

Welcome, Atkin.  Thank you for coming to RWD and sharing this warning that the man needs to marry the correct woman.  Newbies need to hear it and beware.

What country are you a citizen of?

The Republic of Ireland. There are also many Russians from Baltic states that are now part of the EU.
I have been to Russia 3 times so the romance of it has gone.  The towns are grey and bleak really.
I see the reality of women each wanting to look the best to get a man .They like generous men but don't expect    much in return after time . They are cold and selfish.

Atkin,

Women with a hidden agenda for residency are usually gone in a year, not six years. Six years is a long time.  It certainly should be long enough to win her heart.  You had your opportunity, and it did not happen.

Why do you think she is a scammer?  Perhaps she married you in good faith in the hope of love.  She simply does not want to return to Russia and prefers the Emerald Isle.  Understandable.

My advice, if she does not love you, let her go. It hurts but after 6 years there is no reason to think that she will change to the better.

Another question, how long did you know her before marrying her?

Oy, here we go again. Another guy thinking w/his little head marries a Russian woman who doesn't love him and when the jig is up he comes here to "warn" other men that all Russian women are gold diggers/visa whores.  :wallbash:

Hi Atkin,

Can you provide more details like age difference, things you have in common with her, do you have children together.  Also, how long did you know her before you got married?  Do you make a good living?
