Why would Greece be undesirable?

I was reading a website, and now I can't remember which but it was one of the dating sites from a banner ad at RWD.  I was surprised to find on one of the pages, Greece listed as a country from which letters are probably not welcomed.  I could understand the others - Iran, Iraq, Turkey, but what's up with Greece?

So much beauty and history there.  Granted my knowledge of modern Greece is very limited, but what are some attributes or perceptions FSU women have of this country which would possibly make it undesirable for you?

I am just joking, must be some misinformation on that site since the Greek's also follow the same brand of Christianity as majority of the Russians.

Dave, do I correctly get it - a RW wrote in her dating profile that she does not want men from Greece? or was it some different kind of a black ist?
if the former is the case, that might just be her personal preference and taste that only herself can comment.

Well, my guess is something like Mir mentioned above. Greece is quite a popular place where many FSU people went and some people still go nowadays to earn money. The work they do there is considered to be a low paid job like housekeeping in resort hotels, dancers in bars...as a result many Greek people have bad attitude towards FSU people/girls and they think of FSU girls  as of dancers they can see in local bars. Most of them have never been to Russia and have never seen the rest.

So, most girls don't like this attitude of Greek men, besides the way they act in a family is very close to the model most FSU people can see at home, the model they try to avoid.

Serebro: I've often been considered a GEEK, but not Greek.  I'm actually of Scottish roots, but don't normally wear a skirt.    That explanation makes sense.

Shadow: LOL!! I forgot about Wiz... though I'm sure he hasn't polluted the entire country! Maybe a province or two, but not all..

Probably true, but you never know when a question here will bring about some really good discussion.  Now, I can't remember which site it was and it isn't really important enough to go looking.  About once a week I go through and click-through all the banner ads on this site, hopefully to generate a penny or two revenue for RWD (not sure how the ad system works here).. so I'm sure I'll run across it again and I'll send them an email and ask... which, if anything like other email answers I've received to my questions, will deliver a profound answer something like - "FSU ladies do not wish to live in Greece".

These are the kinds of responses in this make believe scenario which follows

Q: I read on your site that letter from men residing in Greece are probably not welcomed. Greece seems to be a beautiful country, why would a lady not wish to correspond with men from this country?

A: Are you from Greece? Ladies here might not wish to correspond with you, but I certainly suggest that you purchase MANY addresses to increase your chances.

Q: No, I'm not from Greece, I am simply curious as to why FSU ladies would not wish to correspond with men from such a beautiful and historically rich country.

A: FSU Ladies do not wish to live in Greece. I suggest you purchase many addresses to increase your chances.

Q: Okay, why do they not wish to live in Greece? What are the reasons for this?

A: FSU Ladies prefer to live in other western countries. The more addresses you purchase, the greater your chance of success.

Of course, that scenario is a bit tongue in cheek, but, the reality is fairly close with many of the sites out there.
