BC - thanks for reminding me about that old thread.  The key is the age range one is looking for.  It makes perfect sense that the marked age disparities occur in the 40+ age categories.  Still, one can find a target rich environment in the preferred age ranges in the FSU by concentrating on cities with many Universities which these days tend to still have, especially in the graduate school departments, way more eligible women than men.  Two cities that fill this niche to a tee are Tver in Russia and Kharkov in Ukraine.  I call them target rich environments.  Universities also tend to "breed" women who have a good knowledge of English (especially Tver which has a huge English department at Tver State University) and are free enough thinkers to accept or even hope to meet and potentially marry Westerners.

I do not think we are nuts as a group at all.  Adventerous perhaps, nuts no.  Able to think out of the box yes, nuts no.

I look at the people going over who just fall into meeting a FSU woman while on business, others yet who were calculating, smart, educated and chose to increase their chances of finding a better gal than they could get at home abroad and others who were purely adventerous, gave it a shot and it worked out for the better.  Many in the latter category have ended up as "train wrecks," but International dating is not for the faint of heart.

Ken,
I think AJ's tongue was firmly in his cheek with those comments.  That is the way I read them.

I have no doubt of that at all. Just picking on AJ a bit. I thought the cheesy grin emoticon gave that away. Maybe I need to clarify my posts with a <Joke></Joke> code or <Sarcasm></Sarcasm> code to eliminate the confusion.

Or maybe I can just fall back on that old line about "You guys just don't understand me or my situation!" and "My situation is different than all those others!"  8)

From the title of this thread maybe a poll should be in order to find out who is the nuttiest.

I am staying out of this thread...

Cuz....

You would have to be "nuts" to argue about whether you are nuts or not!

The truth of the matter is that: In our opinions we're all the sanest people on the planet.

Our friends, family, and especially our ex's would more than likely question our sanity if not downright say we're whacked out of our trees!

Bruce,

IIRC Bruno posted some age distribution charts somewhere here in the archives that showed that there is very little M/F percentage differences at the ages most guys here are looking at.. (20 to 35 or so).

100% true. The 'difference' is in the quality of what's available in this age group. I think, from what I've seen, there's much more quality to be had in the women here, and thats where you'll find the disparity.

This of course allows for an older guy to reasonably "trade up" as some put it.

Count me in with the opinion that this guy might be a tad unrealistic in his approach and expectations.

As for the "are we all nuts" question, well of course you guys are and I love that about you all ;). Good luck

Chivo <-----maybe the nuttiest of them all :P

ScottPull,

You have recieved some good advice, some of it hard hitting
but all spoken straight.

I will only add this: if you are pushing 50, I assume you are 47 to 49.
Assuming you are not a fat bald dufus slob with no sense and no masculinity
in the way you present and carry yourself, there is good news: there are
zillions of FSUW in their late 30s to early 40s who are hotter than a two dollar pistol and available to you in the FSU. Yes, most will have one child, but so what?  And some will have no children.

If you are going for a large age difference, as in more than 10 or 12 years, forget it. Based on what you have reported, it isn't going to happen, and it
isn't meant to happen. Can you date really good looking, slim and intelligent women in the States that are 7 to 10 years younger than you? Based on your post, I get the feeling that the answer is no. So why not take advantage of what is available to you in FSU in a SANE and RATIONAL manner???

Go for it!!!

T/G,,,, BTW, I grow tired of you crying and complaining every time someone mentions your name.  Grow a spine for God's sake.
I made the decision to send you a PM for the unnecessary insult. Nobody complained or whined. Knock it off - NOW!

That is so true. Some family and friends are starting to come around now, just a short  ::) two years after I tied the knot.

I really thank my ex today, because living with her for all those miserable years makes me appreciate my "nutty" decision to marry a woman from the FSU.

The key to success in this venture is not only whether or not one is nuts, but also whether or not one has the nuts for it.  ;D

Two thoughts:

1)  Things are changing over there and that's what might lead to some frustration.  We all heard stories about the 50 year old guy with the nice 20 something hottie for a wife, that he got in say 1999.  Well today's Russia is not going to present such opportunities!  WMGo hit it right on the head.

2)  Ken made a great post on page 1, it should be archived.  Two people getting into this cannot just decide to get married just because you have a good relationship at the beginning.  Without time to build a proper loving relationship, what foundation will exist to keep things together when they get hard down the line?  (and they will if you ever plan to move her to your country).  Bollocks, this takes time, lots of time and you have to spend it in person not online/phone.

I wonder what happened to the discussions on how important English speaking is in your search for a mate?  How on earth can someone fall in love without being able to clearly communicate is beyond me.

You do not have to speak English to communicate.
All you need is a common language.  ;)

Hmm...

American man goes to russia 3-4 times and has trouble finding a good woman?

What cities did you visit?  Not that it matters TOO much...  but my experience from my wife and her friends tells me that it should not be that difficult if you really travel.

Like others have posted I suspect something a bit fishy.  Either your expectations are too high or your game is too low;  maybe both.

And by "game" I mean the ability to have compelling conversation with women.

In any case...  Wish you the best.

And to answer your question...  YES!  We are all nuts!  But is that a bad thing?
