Hello,

Doc,

Maybe start with the apartment listings in this link -- http://www.russianwomendiscussion.com/index.php?pid=32

They do not specifically mention Crimea, but I suspect they will be able to help you if you contact them with your specific needs.

When you *do* find something - if it might be of value to other members, please report back and let us know.

Good luck!

- Dan

Update : We have found some cottage to rent but to quote my girlfriend "Sometimes I am astonished by strange logic
of Ukrainian businessmen!" cost for one week in one cottage far from services is twice the one we can get in Turkey...We are looking for Carpathian mountains too...

Do you have any preference as far as where in Crimea you want to rent the house?  It makes a huge difference as far as price, conveniences, etc.  What do you mean by "well located'?  Why a house versus an apartment.  These questions are important.

Houses are much more difficult to find as rentals, but I do have some friends who work with rentals in Simferopol and have some connections in other areas that might be able to help.  It will also depend a lot on the time of year.

We are looking for a place not in city, close to coast, and from where we can do hiking. We will be there during 5 days, end of april. we want to feel alone. This is why we are looking more for a cottage than an appartment.

The place we have found was 150$/night ... but per person ! the price by itself is not important, but I want the quality of housing to be same as what I can found on the agean coast in Turkey. ex : http://www.villarenters.com/advert_summary.asp?ref=13093 or to pay less if quality is less..

We initially looked at crimea because her parents are living in zaporozhia and we were planning to stop to see them on our way back to Kiev.

If you are focusing on the most common tourist sites like Yalta or Alushta, you can expect to pay high prices.  You just aren't going to find an isolated cottage in a tourist city close to the sea without paying an arm and a leg, if you can even find one. they try to maximize the income of the land closest to the coast by piling as many apartments on them as possible.  There lust isn't a lot of demand for "isolated little cottages by the sea".  Your best bet is to check out places in smaller cities such as Sudak, Novi Cvet, Koktobel, or some of the other small cities along the coast between Alushta and Sudak.  Of course you will pay for this "feeling alone" with less access to amenities and fewer transportation options.  You also won't get the quality of accommodations that you seem to want.  You'll have to compromise somewhere, either in luxuries or price.  Still, I'll ask around.
