I didn't tell you Pushkin was my favorite I told you I's not into poetry at all. Pushkin is just the one who is read by everone in Russia otherwise to Brodsky who is mostly "recalled" due to his punishment by state but rare who really did read his poems.

Elen,

So as a Russian, you do not read poetry?  But is it not fate which all Russian's must face?  Is not poetry the expression of Russian life from common men?  Ok, so you do not read poetry, but books?  Surely, as a Russian woman, educated and clever I think you must read?  Da?

Is not Conrad a great Russian writer?  Did he not explain life in Russia to the world before internet tours?

So what will you decide about inner beauty?  Did not one thought of my integrity and little knowledge of Russia tell you something of my "character"?  What must I do for you to find me a faithful Russian wife?  Must I write a sonnet?  Help homeless people in Moscow survive another terrible winter?  Maybe I need to grow wings and become an angel?

Ha!  I must die first!

Nope sorry I didn't read "The heart of Africa ( or it's the heart of darkness??" )  I promise to read it and find out what you and that idealist Kurts have in common

And it will be better for you if someone else would find you a good girl. Certainly you should not trust such important business to such person like me:D

Elen,

You are correct.  It is the "...heart of darkness!" .  I'm glad to know you read literture.

Yes, I will find my own love and destiny.  But it was fun!  Spasibo!

Dank u!

P.S.  I think you are a very charming, clever, and fun person.  Please continue to write here, forever!

Elen,

Sorry, I actually think this is a kind of hell for men like Bruno, Photoguy, and some others.

I do not wish this fate upon you!!!

And I enjoy your insights, and company, too Elen!

I am happy Elen is here too. I like her feisty ironic quips.
But ....I do not know if she enjoys receiving compliments.  ;)

Did this begin about Real estate?

Photo, are you considering Russia or Ukraine?
Would it be a permanant place or a vacation type situation or investment?

For some reason I really like Ukraine, I am not making any plans but I could see myself relocating in a few years to a med. size city or on the outskirts.
Might be worth buying something now because in another five years prices could possibly double.
I( have not looked in to it as info is hard to find in english, but I have heard a place outside of town can be had fairly cheap.

I'm mulling it over. Ukraine is ..very polluted. I guess there are some clean areas. I wonder how the coast is between Crimea and Odesa? I'm not sure what I want- an investment or summer home or primary residence. I'm thinking about various places in eastern Europe- Poland, Bulgaria, Romania, etc. Doug

Ukraine is actually very beautiful, when you get out in the country.  Kinda reminds me of Nebraska...

But you also have to consider the governments...Russia seems to be closing down just as Ukraine is opening up.  Opening up means not only a more open society, but increasing value of your home, too...

According to what my wife tells me, this area has a traditional problem with a plentiful safe water supply. While you certainly wouldn't drink the tap water, it may not even be safe to bathe in it.

jb-  Good ...a face. For some reason I imagined you would look like General Lee.  :)
Yeah, that's exactly my concern- water you can't drink or bath in.
I'm sure there are many areas where the surroundings look beautiful.
I'm not talking about 'visual' pollution, as much as bad water, and air.
Dan mentioned the problem with radioactivity.

Maybe nearby Romania or Poland might be a better buy, in terms of rising real estate values. I don't know. Maybe I'll search for an area that has a 'tourist' potential, and without too much pollution.

I've lived in Arizona, and it's hard to beat...maybe you can leave the Phoenix area and go to Sedona? :)

A Polish girl I know tells me that it is possible to buy a home in Poland for around 100k.

I may stay here in Scottsdale. Not bad. Sedona is very scenic and touristy AND WAY over-priced. For me to cash in my home equity, I would need to buy a property in a less expensive area, like Moscow. :P   Lviv sounds nice, but they've had a problem just supplying ANY water. I'm keeping an open mind for a potential investment.

Kharkov has some really nice apartments by the park that would be great to live in or to use as rental property...and at less money than that.

Cool. Maybe we can get some guys together and go over there on a real estate junket, as 'investors'. A side effect would be to meet the locals. :D You know- the ones who are photographed by Jack. We can begin by contacting as many beautiful single interpreters as possible.

Okay, I'll ask- 'What's the story behind that?'
