I would like to buy a flat in Kyiv, or maybe Crimea, or...
What can you tell me about buying property in the FSU? Is buying and owning property there, a dubious proposition? Kyiv has some beautiful sections...

From what I hear prices are really going up up up.

Might have been an excellent investment idea a few years ago.

Before Elen finds you a woman, you will have to proove to her that you are worthy.  :D

Moscow real estate? Yikes!  Probably as expensive as New York or Tokyo or Paris.

Yes indeed, there are ownership issues if you are buying an existing flat instead of a new one.  It's called "propiska", there is no way I'd ever buy an older flat or house in the FSU.  You might spend any sum of money and later have some street person claim "propiska" to the flat and move into your spare bedroom.

Check it out very carefully before you make a decision like that.

If, on the other hand, you are shopping for a brand new flat, (big bucks) you won't have that problem.

Elen,

I wrote you a short poem.  I think this poem will define "inner beauty".

One life, one love, two sorrows

To this I say;

which man I may

be what I may

no day, no night

I can not say.

What has happened?

I pray, we must

obey, not delay, our fears

not our tears, we

as one, trust our years

together, not together.

Has this not happened?

---

Maybe you understand now?

JB! From this year we have a new Housing codex wich was desined right for solving many problems with propiska we had before Now it's easy for men with money to buy a flat here as well as for men without money to appear at a street without flat Though each case ofcourse should be discussed with taking into consideration particular circumstances

Do you know this poet?

Strangers?

Such is Moscow?

Discovery?

Aquainted?

Fidelity?

Humility?

Compassion?

Forgiveness?  For I am but a man...

No Бродский is more popular at the West ( as a victim of Soviet state)  but not in Russia (as a poet)

But he wrote 590 poems in Russia.  How can he not be a patriot and loved by Russians as a great poet?  He was an idealist, and knew that the soul of a Russian was not in it's government.

It has nothing to do with his "patriotism" I tell you about "popularity" of his poems in Russia

So who is more popular in Russia?  Maybe he can write me a poem to help find a nice girl with a big apartment?  Maybe if I write a nice poem you will show it to all your girl friends and one will love me?

It's hard for me to say who is more "popular" poet in Russia Pushkin I think just because he is classic and we all studied his poetry at schools:D Although he is really one of the best and is out of doubt with quality of his poetry. So if you want your girl understand what you are speacking about it's better to find something from Pishkin's classic love lyric ( because far from every one here reads poetry which was not published too many because of "dessident" author).

Well if you want to "impress" her then you may use something from Boris Pasternak, or Bella Achmadulina or Marina Tsvetaeva. As for me personal then I'm rather "physic" but not "lyric" and am not into poetry too much. Mostly poetry catches my attention only if I heard some song with fine words ( rare thing in show business now:?) The last book with poetry I bought was written by Larisa Rubalskaya ( after I found out who was the author of this song (the name is translated something like - Vain( or Usefull) words

Though I think it's bit "pessimistic" for a girl you just try to seduce but Rubalskaya has a plenty other fine poems:D

Ps All this is pure off topic Let blame  corncrowe for that

Bruno,

But how will this help Russian woman see my "inter beauty"?  I asked a friend what this "inner beauty" was and she said:

"That is something I aspire to show every day of my life. Someday I will not be afraid to let it shine brightly. You have it Jon. You came to my aid when I needed someone the most. If that is not an inner beauty I don't know the true meaning of it. You knew what to say to bring me out of my funk. She has to see that as well.

No trickery is going to help her see the truth. You need to speak to her from your own heart. This may be the way I see inner beauty, but she may have different ideas. We all see things the way we want to see them."

See, American women are smart too...

Jon

Who is Count Alexei Konstantinovich?  Elen, you must know this man???

What about this noble Russian?

I think Pushkin is your favorite because he was born in Moscow??  Maybe there is another famous poet who live since Pushkin?  Maybe a great writer who discovered this secret of "inner beauty"?  Conrad?  Didn't he write of this in his story "The heart of Africa"?

Yesterday slave, tatar, Maluta's son-in-law, son-in-law of executioner and executioner himself in soul

I didn't tell you Pushkin was my favorite I told you I's not into poetry at all. Pushkin is just the one who is read by everone in Russia otherwise to Brodsky who is mostly "recalled" due to his punishment by state but rare who really did read his poems.
