Tomorrow Evia and I celebrate 2 years of marriage.  All is going great.

Alexandra Gabriel Carpenter is now 16 months old.  Still not speaking, but understands pretty well.

Francious Harry Carpenter is expected on July 17th!

Congratulations!  A pregnancy in the heat of the summer.   I recall fanning the mother of my sons several times per day.

So Gabby is not yet gabbing.  Wonder if her first words will be in English or Russian?  Well, "mama" is universal.

Yes it is.  However, I don't consider Mama or Papa really talking.  Maybe when she connects two or three words together.  I've heard "Patches" (our cat), "Uppie" (pick me up), for 6+ months.

Can you tell us any interesting 'adjustment' stories?
What does she like/dislike about her new life in the West?

Kevin and Evia,

Congratulations!!:applaud:

Can you tell us any interesting 'adjustment' stories?
What does she like/dislike about her new life in the West?

She LOVES free public bathrooms and automatic doors!  Dislikes the lack of people in subdivisions and the dependence on cars.  I'm disappointed in our lack of culture - we live in the far suburbs of St. Louis and it would take me an hour+ to drive our 12 year old into town to get violin lessons.

Now that I swapped my 2-seater BMW Z3 for a 5-seater Toyota Prius - she is learning to drive.  She was mentally willing to learn to drive my F250, but its ONE BIG TRUCK and in 9-10 months she probably only logged 20 hours of driving time, and that mostly on highways.  Here is a classic:  When I came home with the Prius, her comment was: "But you will drive it to work.  So when its here for me to drive, you will be here and can drive me!".

We both have an attitude that its about being together, not about where we are.  Thus I don't blink about us booking a vacation in Siberia next January.

For me, well, first and foremost, having a loving wife is wonderful!  Strangest thing is mostly around food preparation and storage - I can't get use to serving jam in bowls that sit out for days, or her not being concerned about her chicken soup sitting out overnight.
