After wedding / Visit to Canada

Hello,

We will be married end of september (in Ukraine) and we are trying to know when it will be possible for my future wife and her son to come in Canada. one time married, is the tourist visa automatically granted ? If she is refused, does this have an impact on our application for her and her son that we will start just after wedding ?

Two years ago it took a gentleman I know One year to bring his bride, who had a 4 year old at the time, to Canada. His wife is my Russian Teacher. Anyhow, she tried to enter Canada twice on Visitors/Tourist Visas to visit him. She went to the Canadian Embassy in Moscow, Docetae I know your Lady is Ukrainian, where she described the scene as being the most embarrassing, low and demeaning and she has ever been in. The first time she was refused for not having the correct papers. The second time they refused her because the Interviewer accused her of being pregnant. Both times she travelled by train 8 hours to Moscow and stood in line for 10 hours to see Canadian Officials. She was employed at the time and owned property.
After the second refusal, her then boyfriend, asked her to marry him. They were both fed up with the BS.
He did all the work himself in Canada.... No Lawyers except for Notarizing letters. Six months after their marriage she landed into Toronto with her young Son. He said that the longest part was waiting for one country to wait for the other to send papers to it. He had to travel to Ottawa once to visit someone in Immigration. When everything was ready she went back to Moscow for a third time, was swept past the 10 hour line and brought into a private area where they welcomed her and interviewed her like she was a human being..... She said that her initial Visa denials never affected her final Acceptance after becoming married. My Svetlana is scared to death to take that chance...

Your chances of her getting a tourist visa once you are married are close to zero. If she enters Canada on a tourist visa and she is your wife, then she has the right to stay in the country until her paperwork for permanent residence is processed. For this reason alone, the application for a tourist visa will more than likely be rejected. They will politely tell you to sponsor your wife first and then apply for permanent residence.

In my case, I managed to get my wife a tourist visa (of course, we married here and she stayed while her paperwork was being processed). However, I was scolded by the Consulate officials that the next time I should sponsor my girlfriend first and not do it again. So, for that reason, I have my doubts that they would give her a visa when you are already married.

On the bright side, the processing of permanent residence is faster outside of Canada than inside and you have a right of appeal if you process from outside the country. It will likely take 5-6 months for her application to clear.
