How do I find a old Russian friend in Russia?
« on: April 02, 2008, 07:27:36 PM »
Hello,

I have a Russian friend that I used to do Judo / Sambo wrestling with.  My friend disappeared and we think that he went back to Russia - the St. Petersburg area.  I have his name in English, but I have no Idea how I would locate him with his Russian name (if the spelling is very different).  Is there a realistic chance of finding him with just his English name?  He was a physical education teacher for school in Russia, and a Truck driver in USA.

There is a site that is very popular in FSU now - www.odnoklassniki.ru. (translated as 'classmates'). The problem would be that it is in Russian language. If you know the name, a person that is registered can make a search.

I was a member there, but had to unsibscribe as too many spam and unwanted letters from people that I never know were flooding my mailbox. But its popularity is amazing, even some Russian employers started banning this site to prevent employees visiting them at work. :)

Looking for a man? Gator was right! You're biglen not biglen!

Here's a RW detective out of Dallas Texas. She helps children who were adopted locate their biological parents in the FSU and she will also chase down hot looking scammers who may turn out to be men. She has a good reputation and may have the edge since she may be able to contact American government agencies to find out what city your friend went back to. Click the link below to see the hottest RW detective ever.

Lenny,

there use to be a phone service for St Peterburg and area which can provide you with his full post address.Adresnaya spravka. (Адресная справка) You need his date of birth and full name including patronimic. If he has a common (usual) Russian name and surname the transliteration back into Russian should not be difficult. If you could post his name here first we can see if it is usual. You can PM me if you wish but I will not be online till Monday night.
There are shortcuts to happiness and dancing is one of them.

I do resent the fact that most people never question or think for themselves. I don't want to be normal. I just want to find some other people that are odd in the same ways that I am. OP.
