RWD Server Migration

Many of you have noted that RWD seems to be, at times, very slow in loading pages. I have been working with the server host to identify the problem, and to develop a resolution.

Sometime in the next few days - in the 'quiet' hours of the early morning (2:00 to 4:00 AM - US time) - RWD will be migrating to a new (and improved) server platform. It is unlikely that you will receive any notification when the migration is to begin - and the site will be down for several hours.

I am not sure exactly which day the migration will take place, but it could be as early as tonight - so by this time tomorrow, we may be on a new server.

I will advise once the migration is completed.

I appreciate all your patience.

RWD is now operational on a new server. The migration took quite a bit longer than expected due to the size of the site, but except for being down for a couple of hours, the migration went well and members should see no difference in the site - except for improved performance.

Strange, I did notice an improvement some 12 hours ago (page loads down to about 10 seconds), but now it's back to my usual 20+ :noidea:.

Correction, it appears to fluctuate, hope it'll stabilise to the shorter values :-[.

Here's another quirky one. On the Anti-Scam Table link under Scam Avoidance the two right chevrons above Recent Posts takes me to a new blank page. Also: the link on the left says "r 4" but the table itself says "r 6"

My pages are loading much faster (so far).  My "new post" notification emails have started working again too.  They have not worked for a long long time until now.

Ken, the 2 chevrons (there and elsewhere) are probably just 'embellishments' and lead nowhere (no underlying link), as well as all the other menu icons ;).

Regarding the Anti-Scam Table, probably Dan forgot to change the 'r' number when I sent him the last two updates ;D.

The chevrons "usually" open and close the side menu. I've never had them behave as a link before which was why I was surprised at the behavior.

That bad ol' Dan! First he prevents me from viewing underwear pictures and now he refuses to update your versioning...  8)

They ship them to Florida in the winter and then back north in the summer. While in transit, the site is down. So everything is done via over night express.  ;D
