Smooth sailing for now
« on: April 09, 2008, 11:05:59 AM »
I just received my stepson's appointment for biometrics and he is scheduled 5 days from my wife's appointment. This a month or less from the time I filed to remove conditions.

Is this a good sign or is it normal timing?

Another question: Every notice has contained a paragraph asking me to submit documents to prove our marriage, if I have not yet done so.

If this is true, can someone just file the I-751 alone just to protect their time and send in the documents later? I have never heard of this, but is may be a good way to protect yourself if you do not have all the documents together.

I can only speak to the biometrics part of your question.  The timing seems very normal, except, why would they be scheduled for different days?  The different day thing is strange as normally his application is embedded in hers and it would be scheduled at the same time.  Maybe he's over 18 years old?

Biometrics happens quickly as this is needed for the rest of the processing.

We went to biometrics to remove conditions on the permanent resident card, then they received a letter extending their conditional card for a year and just 3 months prior to that expiring their permanent resident cards arrived in the mail.  This was a week after going in for another biometrics appointment for her naturalization. So they had to carry around the expired conditional permanent resident card and the letter explaining it was extended for a year.

Going in for biometrics again and again (three times) really irritates the wife.  I kind of like it as I arrange for a motel in downtown Portland and get to spend an afternoon and evening poking around in a great city and then find a thing or two to do the next morning.

Hi Planner,

From what I have read, the mother and child are never processed at the same time.

I plan to phone USCIS this week to see if I can bring my stepson in with my wife to have his biometrics taken at the same time. If not, we will have to return 5 days later for his.
