 First of all (I read your first post two times)) I don't see 100% scam in what she does. Scam is about money and always money! Then she is at the age she needs to undertake some steps to find the right guy. 25-30 yo hotties has time but she doesn't. How old is she? 40 with a good plus I guess.
Before she asks for money you can't say this is any scam.
By the way in this 2000 I did get the visa and went to meet a guy but I didn't have money for this. He paid. No scam.I had ( and still have two kids and I was a single mother).
This date didn't work for me but all I've said is true. Before I hadn't been anywhere outside Russia.

I am sorry if you take my remark as a rude one- I wouldn't think seriously of a man who lies on the purpose (like you did about your financial situation).
I met more than one AM before I married the present husband- none of them told me lies. The last one (my husband) RIGHT AWAY talked about his income and stuff like this. Then he thought it right to email me some financial papers. It is too much of the openness but he did it. He asked questions about my life and kids and sent money without my asking him- it was a sustantial amount. He did it before we met.He probably was not smart but I appreciated his actions,I still do.
How old were we? He was 49 and me 43.Two serious people

If you Google "Russian America (or American) Forum" and read through the forums, you will find the cases when Russians, including women, travel as a tourist and immigrate to US being not visited by an American man first

Um...Doll...when did I lie about my financial situation?  I think I made it quite clear that I told her in advance that I don't have a lot of money and don't own my home.   And, I've made it quite clear to the lady.  As I said, she has continuously assured me that she has the savings and is able to afford the trip on her own.  So, I'm just waiting to see if it turns out to be true.

Also, keep in mind that it may have been a lot easier to get a tourist Visa before Bush, and especially before 9-11.  Things have really tightened up, but will hopefully get easier after Bush is gone next year.

Keep in mind that the conventional wisdom regarding tourist visas is primarily concerning younger women (20s to early 30s). At 40, if she has the cash to finance the trip, she can probably overcome the presumption of immigrant intent without a lot of difficulty.

Why, this place is as good as any other.  I applied for a tourist visa in January'07 on an invitation from my young cousin who is married to a lawyer in NYC.  I showed the invite letter, my car ownership docs, and letter from my employer stating my salary (way above average).  No other property or ties to the Motherland.  Got visa without any problem.

No, I married using a different kind of visa.   But prior to that, I entered twice on a tourist visa and returned back home.

To Doll:  I did think this was the appropriate section of the forum, since I was trying to figure out if I was being scammed.  Just because she hasn't asked for money, doesn't mean she isn't leading up to something.  I still have no phone number, and for some reason she doesn't want to tell me her last name.

Today I got a letter detailing her interview for the tourist visa, and she really seems to know what she's doing as far as what questions she was asked.  She does apparently own her flat, and she also has strong ties to the community since she does volunteer work for an orphanage nearby.  Anyway, that's what she says.

She's not 40...she's 36, but appears quite mature, as you can see.

Blues Fairy...that is very encouraging that you were able to get a tourist visa.  I guess things have eased up.

The lady I'm writing to tells me she was told that they grant tourist visas to one out of eleven that apply.

I am placing this ad to warn any men who maybe contacted by this lady: Svetlana Kajumowa.

To make a long story short, we corresponded with each other for one month which lead to her travelling to Moscow to hop on a plane to come visit me here in Canada. This was a VERY good scam as she even provided me with a copy of her visa in the hopes that I would send her $995 US dollars "to complete the trip" to come visit me. Upon further investigation, the bank she told me to wire tranfer the funds to was not located in Moscow, nor would she give me the phone number where she was staying or more importantly the travel agency she was dealing with so I could verify her pending trip.

Needless to say, she has since disappeared and stopped emailing me so I am enclosing her pictures so no one else is scammed by this lady.   


   
 

Viking, how good would it have been had this rig not been a scam? LOL I can see why unsuspecting guys would drain their savings and max out their credit cards in hope of this gal walking though the gates of some regional airport in Iowa or wherever. If you were new at this process and received these pictures I'll bet you almost fell on the floor.LOL

Just to be clear, that was an ad I found on craiglists and nothing to do with me. But I had been scammed when I started this venture, as have many others here, to either a larger or smaller extent. Sometimes it is the typical scam of send me money, for others it is a road trip that ends up in  flames once the guy gets there and many other sceanarios in between. Some guys get lucky and hit it right the first time, but once you did it the wrong way, and LEARN from that mistake, the delete button becomes a good friend.
