Doll actually commented that he reminds her of her own husband in some ways...So it's all a matter of perception IMO.

Of her husband and THOUSANDS of AM around me! I have the chance to watch them both at work abd on vacations. If I didn't know who they were I would have to guess. People (AM) tend to relax on vacations.

Well everybody emails me their bank acc numbers :D

To be seriously about the "Irish" discussion- it made me really sick in the stomack.
The country that claims to be " free from national prejudicies" is actually stuffed with them and the majority of AM on this board showed it again. And again! The kid from Cyprus included.
Guys why so much fuss around accent? Don't answer, I know why.

Doll,

Would you care to explain what exactly it is that upsets you about all this accent talk?. You've said countless times that it makes you sick to your stomach, and I have no idea why.. Surely you don't think that John is being discriminated against or made fun of because of his accent?. :o

Didn't someone ask Eduard whether he had written permission to use these women in his promo video???

Anyone notice he conveniently didn't answer a legitimate question AGAIN?

Is that what you would call honest?

Come on Eduard... come backand tell us - Did you get written persmission from the women before using them in a promo video on YouTube???

And do you still claim that 100% of your clients succeed via your method?

Eduard,  I dress differently for church, for a business meeting, for doing yard work and just for sitting around the home, yet I am the same person.  These are not a "front' just to impress someone, but dressing appropriately for the occasion based on the respect I have for the person or situation.  How you dress shows the level of respect for the person or situation and if I dress the same for a first date as I would for a trip to the hardware store it shows that I feel the same about both.

What exactly was wrong with the way that he dresses?!? He wore a clean (and ironed) shirt. He wasn't in rags. It was summer in Moscow with 30+ Celsius weather (whatever that is is Fahrenheit). It was a casual date (not the opera, not a fancy restaurant). The women would have thought that he was nuts IMHO if he had showed up overdressed in a 3-piece suit.

This "kid" ( is that being complimentary or insulting ;) )! from Cyprus picked you up for making sweeping generalisations about American men and repeatedly told you he was Irish... you told us that Eduard said he was Irish... so I believed you.... now Eduard confirms what you were told ... ( so WHO should be "sick"!!? )

Doll, please learn by your mistakes and REALLY do give this 10 USD you owe me to help this poor little girl ( Natasha)... I promise I sent 10 USD when I thought I was wrong... ;)

You made the fuss.. as we say "put up or shut up" ;)

Hey Y'all,

To this point, the topic has remained well within the boundaries of civility. I worry, however, that if some of the light 'badgering' continues, patience will wear thin and it will spill out in the form of some angry posts.

Let's drop this 'issue' of the wager, at least.

While everyone has been good about being civil, I would still encourage you to review the 'Guidelines for Civil Discourse' found here -- http://www.russianwomendiscussion.com/index.php?topic=7223.0

I don't mean for this post to dampen enthusiasm - only refocus on the more weighty elements at issue.

Misha,
Did you miss the 6 pages that covered this?  There are many levels of dress between the way he dressed and a 3 piece suite that would have been more appropriate.  (Like dress slacks, leather shoes and a short sleeved shirt tucked into the slacks)  Yes, it was a casual date, but not a picnic.  Showing so little effort in his appearance was disrespectful to the women he met IMO.  But read the other 6 pages for more detail.  Sorry, but his manner of dress was slovenly and inappropriate for a first date IMO.

I read the first six pages, and I still can't understand what the fuss is all about. I showed up on my first date wearing clean jeans and a short sleeved shirt. Nothing fancy, pretty casual. Heck, my shirt was not ironed, so you could say that I was slovenly. However, my wife and I had a wonderful date that lasted 6 hours. She was judging me on other criteria then simply my sense of fashion.

 Eduard,

You are Russsian and know many RM dress very well and RW like that too. In the video everyone of the ladies had a look of distaste for John. I didn't see any of the women being overly excited when they looked at him. Body language says a lot. John of  course was excited and happy.

If you want a high rate of success and are looking to guide the men. Perhaps you should guide them with advice also on how to dress and how to behave. There are matchmaking agencies that will tell men exactly what they are doing wrong in order to attract the kind of women they want. That's very important. Though clothes do not make the man and it's what's inside that counts when a man needs a translator and can't really communicate well with a woman, what else does she have to judge him by? Besides his body language, manners and dress? John may be a greta guy. But how would anybody know? We all know some great girls who are intelligent, have a great heart. But if she's dressed like she does not care out on a first date with us, if she's all over us and does not appear attractive, if we do not speak a common language, how in the world am I or any other man supposed to figure out what a catch she is?  You're assumption every women should be able to see John for who he is,even with a language barrier is wrong. As a man trying to fix a man up with FW you should be the first to know that.

Als, I too had the impression John had sex. With all the questions that lead up to "last night" . Him saying we had fun, fun, fun and you adding " Was it a "religious experience."? and him saying yes, we are supposed to guess you two were talking about a kiss?

Which only goes to prove there is someone out there for everyone!  Glad it worked for you, but it is not how I would have done it nor how I did it.  To me the heart of the matter was exposed here when Olga H reported back that more RW from the other site disapproved than approved of this man's style of dress.  Of course this whole conversation revolves around the first impressions and in no way truly reflects the inner qualities of the people involved.  But I would rather have a woman think "Wow!" or at least "Mmmm" when first meeting than "Oh sh!t, maybe he is a nice guy."

I read the thread. The same women went on for pages and pages about the way that the women were dressed and eagerly sharing their disapproval of how the women dressed and their style. What does that prove? Both men and women like to criticize others to boost their egos LOL.

Misha,

You are working from the presumption that others are reacting out of insecurity. That is one possibility - but only one.

Another possible reason for the responses is that entirely secure and balanced people were reacting to a situation they sincerely believe could be improved - or that they do not fully understand.

Misha,
I have but one question for you.  Why would a man that traveled 6,000 miles at great expense to meet women not put his best efforts into making a most favorable first impression? :rolleyes2:

Sorry, but I put a lot of the blame on Eduard here too.  If he was hired to "guide" this man to meet his potential soul mate, he failed miserably in giving this man sound advice in this area.  Eduard should have told him to dress better in order to make the best first impression.  Actually, this should had been covered before the man packed his suitecase.

If John is as well travelled as Ed says he is,should John not have known how to dress? I do blame Ed, But this definitely makes em wonder why in all of his travels John thinks this type of dress and behavior is ok in impressing FW. As I stated before NONE of the women John met seemed half as interested in him , if at all . I bet  had he presented a better package and had not been so "close" to them, they would have felt better. Added to that, the way John chewed his gum makes me think a dinner date with him would not be too pleasant either. I shudder to think of him eating a meal while he is talking.

I did not say insecurity, rather ego. It is natural that people try to boost their egos and, often, the easiest way of doing this is by criticizing others. It is the difference between constructive criticism and that which is not.

Also, there is the posturing that is reminiscent of the armchair coach. Most fans like to think that they are so much more brilliant than the coach and if only the coach and the players thought like they did, they would have gone all the way to victory each and every year.

True, you did not allege "insecurity." It is, however, implied in your comments - and that is why I called it out.

As I wrote earlier, this is but one of a range of possible motivators that might lead someone to criticize Ed/John.

That was my only point.

It appears that the video, for multiple reasons, left a lot of wrong impressions and as such didn't do justice to anyone involved.  It did not leave a positive impresson of Eduard's services unless it was geared toward a specific clientelle that would be at the lowest level.

I, too, made the assumption that John had sex with the first girl and it appeared to me that Eduard wanted me to make that assumption.  I'm actually quite relieved to hear that this didn't happen, as it made me wonder why, given her obvious discomfort with John, she would allow this.  This had left me with a negative view of her that apparently wasn't warranted.

It was 30* C in July of 2002 when I was in Moscow too.  It was hot but I wouldn't have dreamed wearing shorts on dates.  I think John just didn't understand that Moscow ain't Atlanta..something Ed was apparently being paid to counsel him on.

Did the "Dolls" sign any release for Eduard to cut the video loose on the net? That's one question but I wonder if John punter signed any release? Eduard, I am no USA based legal advisor but let me tender this. Your attention to detail seems to be severely lacking if the videos are anything to go by and if this extends to other business practices, I suggest you tidy up some loose ends. Don't fall for making your clients into friends.........if something goes pear shaped later, even years later and they smell your blood (money), if there is any, your friend may just turn into something else.

Scott and Jet,
You feel that you dress more appropriately for an occasion than John. that's fine.
But why are you so eager to judge and criticise? I found that people put somebody down because it makes them feel better about themselves. I hope that's not the reason here?

I think if you were to speak with any of the numerous members who have met me in person or spoke with me on the phone, they'd assure you that I'm one of the most laid back people you'll ever meet, and that I'm comfortable enough in my own skin that I don't participate here on any level for self gratification or because I've got some inner need to boost my own ego. In case there was any question at all in your mind, I do not dislike you  ;). Scott, Ronnie, KenC, and I might share similar views of the video and your client's dress/behavior but that doesn't mean we orchestrated some co-ordinated attack against you or your client, and I've never been one to jump on bandwagons.

He is a good, honest, well educated, very smart man with integrity and a good heart. Why can't we look at the positive instead of acting like a bunch of school kids?

As I pointed out previously, THAT MAY WELL BE! But there is no way on God's green Earth that one could determine that by watching the video! I only know that now, because you told us yesterday!
