US Embassy in Kiev...
« on: June 15, 2008, 10:45:35 AM »
How long is taking them to sent package 3 these days and schedule the interview after they recieve the letter from NVC?

Please correct me if I am wrong, the embassy sends package 3, my fiancee must complete some papers, police report, medical exam,... then she must call the embassy and schedule an interview.

I heard the med exam can only be done in Kiev, correct?

I can't help you on the package 3 but I did do a DCF and it was rather fast.  I think things are slowing down in Kiev because of the added work load from Belarus.

The only emailed us the files we needed to fill out rather than mail.  I suspect it may be the same for you.

The med exam is only done in Kiev.  You will need to schedule a time and have your KEV number ready when you call.  It took us about 5 hours to get through medical and then we went back later that day to pick it up.  Make sure she has documents showing her immunization records.  It is a requirement now.  If you can't get them then try to get the chicken pox.  My wife didn't have any records but told them she had chicken pox already and they just checked it without giving her the shot.  That is the most expensive shot.  Your fiancee or wife will need to get those shots done at medical if she doesn't have any records to supply.  My poor wife had 5 shots that day.  I don' think you are nromally suppose to give someone so many but it is Ukraine.  :D

The longest part of the medical was waiting to pay for it.  :whirling:

Good luck,

Thomas

I have read the instructions in the Packet 3 and it said that vaccinations was not require for K1 or K2.

I download the Packet 3 from the US Embassy in Kiev. The US Embassy recommends that you download the Packet 3. So I am curious.....

We did medical about 3 to 4 weeks ago.

You are right regarding the k1 or k2.  My wife went for a immigrant visa.  I think you will still have the same problem, with immunizations, when you do your AOS. I don't know it for a fact but would look into it.

I would try to get your medical history.  It may also help here when she goes to get a job as they may require it as well.  Your fiance should get a copy of her medical for her records.  I would make sure to keep that.

The embassy said they don't mail out packets anymore but email them.  I would imagine it would be the same as your once your petition is accepted.

My pleasure.  The city where my wife grew up decided to throw away the records of people after so many years.  I guess they don't think it is necessary to keep a medical history of people here.   :cluebat:

Good luck with your petition.

That seems to be the policy as it was the same for my wife.  But since the immunizations were standard and required under the Soviet system, the local clinic will, for a small fee, issue a document stating that she received all the necessary immunizations.  I gave my wife the list of  immunizations required and she took this to the clinic to be sure they included all the required ones in the document.  the only one that wasn't given when my wife was a child was the one for German measles, so she had to have that one at the clinic in Kiev.  They will send her a list of required immunizations both in English and in Russian, but I downloaded this from the embassy website beforehand so we had a head start on this.

I would highly recommend to anyone that, along the visa process, download the documents for the next step so you can see what is coming and what is expected so that you can have everything ready when the official letter does come.

I wish we had the choice Scott.  No dice.  They wouldn't take money at all.

I felt so bad for my wife.  She looked like a pin cushion by the time she was done.

Maybe you misunderstood.  I wasn't talking about offering money to the clinic in Kiev, I was talking about the local clinic in the city where she lives.  She came to the clinic in Kiev with this document in hand.  The funny thing was that the doctor had included every immunization on the list that my wife provided him even though German measles wasn't offered at that time.  The clinic in Kiev noted this and rather than questioning the veracity of the document, just gave her that shot.

I understood perfectly Scott.  We tried to get a note in her town, not in Kiev.  She did tell the Kiev clinic she had chicken pox and they just checked it off.  She did need 5 other shots though.

Thats what my fiancee is planning to do this week. Did the clinic put all vaccinations on one page? Did they include the vaccinations dates?

I asked her to make sure the doctor sign it and pput the hospital stamp on the paper.

I guess your fiance found a needle happy clinic.  Maybe she didn't offer them enough of a "gift"?  ;).  My wife's cost 50 hrvn.

I never saw the paper that she got from the clinic so I don't know if it was on one page or not.  She says it was simply a letter listing the required vaccinations and stating that she had received them all.  I was pretty persistent in asking her to be sure it had the signature and the appropriate stamps in place.

Depending on the age of the woman, the vaccination records might be available at her school.  I know our daughter needed these when she transferred to a private school so we will be getting copies from them for her visa.  I don't know how long the schools keep these records, but it's a thought.
