May be Kievstar was the member who searched under the tag "sexy" in our photos yesterday ;)

Interesting he doesn't reply, Dan.... Kievstar, if you do reply we could, perhaps, help you find the sort of pictures you seek....

Hi Admin,

Looking for info / pictures on Kharkov.  Dating a new girl there and do not know much about city.  My post did sound very creepy - just got back from a 11 day vacation in Kiev with my new girlfriend so still tired.

I have been going to Ukraine every month (sometimes 2 times in month) for past 3 years so know a a lot about Ukraine but nor Kharkov.  Previously I dated a professional dater in Kiev for almost 2 years.  Both new it was for fun and nothing more. She really showed me Ukraine and I will always be grateful for that.  But she would never show me Kharkov or the rest of eastern Ukraine.  Wanted the mountains out west, expensive restaurants / nightclubs in Kiev, or Crimea.

I do personal business in Ukraine so I need a woman who will live in USA and Ukraine at sometimes in next 10 years.  I tried with AW but they really have no interest in living in Ukraine.  I do not blame AW as Ukraine is starting to fall apart - trust me the signs are there as I talk directly with most of the CEO's of the Ukraine companies there - unless your into mining and natural gas.

My new girlfriend is a professional model who is ready to settle down as she is 27 and it is harder for her to get work around Europe now do to her age and that fact she is now 128 pounds at 5 foot 11 and not 121 pounds.  I have been to her city one time for work and that is how I met her.  I was there for 6 days but really do now know the expensive restaurants, or lesser expensive restaurants that are good.  Also, trying to find information on companies that help with romantic dates - meaning surprise picnics, helicopter rides, spa packages for two, etc.  Also, what are the more expensive / better nightclubs as I want to throw a birthday party for her.

Not looking for any advise on dating or how I date.  I took this girl to Kiev so my local friends could judge her just in case my judgment was blinded by her looks.  Best way to judge a girl is to have several local girls meet her who you trust.

Any help on Kharkov would be great.

I am back in Kiev on July 5th and leaving July 7th to Turkey for 11 nights with girlfriend and than back to Kharkov on July 18th for 3-10 days.

I'd be interested in hearing more about this, as most guys who've visited Ukraine over the last few years are at great pains to point out how quickly the economy is improving.

Hi Dispozo,

Friends are in Kiev and Crimea not Kharkov.  They do not like that city unfortunately and know nothing about it.  Remember Ukraine is second largest country is Europe and 47 million people so most people do not know all of their country.

But got great information today on PM so I thank everybody who helped me out.

Hi groovstlk,

To long to reply in an email on Ukraine but basically inflation is really hurting people this year, lack of qualified people to do the work to attract new foreign investment (schools not producing the right people and expats do not have the language skills needed).  Plus a lot of the highly educated locals are leaving the country and not coming back. So investment is going to Asia.  Also a lot of people in Ukraine get paid in usd $ which is killing them since we have a weak dollar.

Construction is booming but will be over after Euro 2012 - so 3-4 more years.

Housing loans are now 14-16% which is up from 9% last year.  Only the rich can afford this credit or foreigners.  Most of the new realestate in Kiev is bought by Foreigners and the rich mostly from the Eastern part of country.  Plus cost are so high that rental returns on new housing (this assumes no credit) is 6% after tax.  Which is way down from the 50% plus returns 3-4 years ago.  Plus property taxes are coming within 5 years on homes over $200 usd.  This will eliminate rentals as good investments but will start lowering the housing prices for the non rich as construction companies will over build.

A lot of the consultants in the country are siting in the office not working which is a bad sign.  These are merger and growth consultants.  Last year they were busy around the clock.

That being said for 5% top of the country things are better each year.  But no middle class is developing.  Teachers and doctors are paid like dirt.

Reason most people see Ukraine getting better each year is that they tend to go were the upper class of Ukraine eat and their girlfriends take them to nicer restaurants / night clubs.  With 5% doing well that is more than 2 million people but 45 million people struggling.  But in Kiev most restaurants are very empty right now as compared to last year at this time.

Things can change with the right politicians.  Best thing for Ukraine would be no Nato and EU to keep the most educated in the country.  Otherwise they will leave and nobody to replace them.

Hry, Kievstar,

for a "troll" you post pretty non provocative, interesting viewpoints.. I believe you are correct re the wealth gap, and you observations re the rental market profitability and  possible end to the boom are correct IMHO..  The FSU has since big property price increases and *I* think they will reverse .. My Wife thinks I'm crazy and that their property prices will never fall in value :)

The question of NATO / EU membership... Hmm ... Poland, etc saw a HUGE movement westwards on joining the EU and now they are returning home... "The" Ukraine's problem is it's relationship with Russia - IF it was allowed to join the EU..  Can *you* see Russians / Ukrainians needing visas to see relatives ? ;)

The president of a big consulting company who is a local told me this about Ukraine "Organized Chaos".  Meaning everything is made complicated on purpose but makes no sense.  Documentation is a nightmare in that country. People do things just to do things.

Poland is very simple to do business.  But your right people in Poland are returning.  I also find Polish people not as educated as what they say on their resume.

Knowing now what a troll is I would not consider myself a troll.  I thought troll meant someone who never posted.  I am here to give my opinion as I do have a lot of experience in Ukraine.  Also found out some good information about the girl I was seeing for past month - so this board has already helped me.  Which is great.

I had my tongue in cheek, hence the " " around troll :)

I don't know if that is good or bad for her ( your biz!) but I enjoy hearing other folks prespectives about FSU countries. Thx

Kievstar - what an interesting post about Ukraine - thanks!! You mentioned your girl was "model gorgeous", so no amount of data can bring sanity back to you now :)

I tend to agree that Eastern European countries, and maybe especially Ukraine, might have been better off in alliance with Russia than EU. They don't understand how the Western capitalists can say all kinds of wonderful, warm, nation building stuff, how they are working for your benefit, and extract all the wealth from your country in the process. Most Western help is a big net flow of wealth out of the country (just ask the Russians from the early days of their "great democracy").

Keep us posted ...
