Siberian Programmer to USA
« on: June 27, 2008, 12:02:28 AM »
Privet, I am back after one previous post. My lady is a programmer in Siberia. I need knowledge on all aspects of her using those skills here in US. (oklahoma).   Ideally we would like to talk to some who have done it. Realizing it will take effort, patience and time, we would like to move as smoothly as possible, even preparing ahead of time. I hope to have her here on K-3 before the end of the year. All help is sincerely appreciated      foche911

foche911,

It only depends on her skills and experience.

I'm in Australia but had a few Russian software developers working for me in Sydney.  I can't say if it was luck or a cultural difference but in both cases the employees were among the most productive, loyal and valuable out of my team of "50+ scary-heads"!

I can't comment on your local economy or the job opportunities, but there should be little that prevents her from working.

It will depend on the technologies where she has skills, and her personal characteristics.

Some programmers are better communicators and will become business analysts or analyst programmers.  Others are better are creating code, architecting systems etc.

If you want more info feel free to PM me...  otherwise just post further info in this thread and I'll try to keep an eye out.

So you're going back there to get married..you didn't refer to her as your wife, yet you're going for K3.  If speed is the objective, use the K1.
