I've been reading posts on this forum for a couple of weeks now and figured I could post a small introduction and ask a few questions. As a brief introduction, I'm a 27 years old chap from Norway at the start off a promising carer as a legal representative, so I haven’t got the fancy penthouse nor do I drive a Porsche to work (at least not yet. ). Aside form that I think I’m doing quite ok. At the looks department, don’t know if it actually matters, but I’m probably also relatively ok there, I workout a lot so I’m also pretty fit. I usually haven’t got any problems getting dates. My problem is that I usually end up in relationships with ether girls I like intellectually but feel less attracted to sexually or girls I find quit attractive but they lack intellectual depth. I haven’t given up looking for something solid in Norway (or Scandinavia), just expanding my options. At the moment I’m just curios, and fiddling somewhat around to learn how various agencies and dating sites work and of course reading posts on this great site to learn from old timers and others in search for the right one.

So far I’ve been looking at some agencies, and found some promising profiles. The most promising profiles however where one sits I suspect manly consists of scammers, like globaladies.com and loveme.com. So, is there any point in pursuing these girls? Or are these sites so bad there’s no chance of meting a sincere girl there?

No agency/dating site is perfect but of course you don't want to pay money to a company that is going to hurt you. Once you find a few places you want to do business with, come back and ask questions. I found my fiancee on bride.ru

nice your just a few years older than me and i know what you are saying. before i could ever settle down i know ill have to at least visit the FSU and really check things out. being from norway it sounds like you've got some benefits over us from the USA- probably some cheap flights from Oslo to Tallinn, Saint Petersburg, or other FSU cities.

There are plenty of wonderful women listed with the reputable agencies.

I do not know about Global Ladies.  However, loveme.com or otherwise known as AFA, is a large multi-national listing service.  Six years ago, I had meetings with three RW listed with AFA, and all women were sincere.

In fact, I never encountered a scammer in three different searches/trips.  And I even broke the Golden Rule and sent money to a couple for travel to our prearranged meeting place.   Was this luck or hard work?  Before the meetings, I did spend a lot of time talking with them over the phone and became very comfortable.

Maybe not everyone here would agree with me, but my overall impression of the Russian ladies ( I don't really know the Ukrainian ladies), and what makes them so attractive, is exactly that. They are:
- Feminine
- Intelligent
- Attractive

So, I think you will have success finding what you seek. Then you will join all the other married guys on this site who are blabbing incessantly about how wonderful our wives are ...

I hope being form Norway will be seen as a positive aspect for a potential foreign lady as well, sins it's not that far away being a part of Europe I mean. As for flight tickets I bet that they're a lot cheaper from Norway than the US (probably around $600 to most countries if the trip is planed ahead I guess).

You're young, with great potential - career-wise, and I never understood why you guys in Norway get such cheap flights ( I have a friend who is a Cypriot living and working in Norway - married a lady from Norway !!)

If *I* was you - and I'm not ..just over twenty years older - I'd FORGET all agencies and check out the dating sites.. 
( http://www.luckylovers.net ) worked for us... you can tell who is viewing your profile and chat / email using their internal system before "going it alone" ..  ( however, as no one else seems to have recommended them since us on their testimonials page, I'm REALLY wondering if we were the only members )

Why not learn some Russian and join a few Russian dating sites, too   http://znakomstva.odnoklassniki.ru/ .. this is an offshoot for Russians looking up old school chums .. might be worth being one of the few foreigners on there ...

Patrick, I believe there are better choices than AFA.  Why?  AFA does not do a good job of eliminating inactive women.  One of the women I met was still there three years after she moved in with her Russian boyfriend.  Thus, you could waste your money buying the address of a woman not interested in meeting any Western men.  If you do use AFA, choose only women listed in the past year. 

In contrast, Elena's Models provides information on when a woman last logged in, the percentage of times she answers a man's "wink" (letter of expression), etc.

When it comes to Russian, I’d probably be able to learn some basic verbal skills with a language school on my Ipod. I bet it would take me a lot longer to be able to read and write in Russian. But I am in no haste, so it might be a fun long time project. However If I continue pursuing this project I’ll definitely attempt to learn some Russian. So I’ll probably keep http://znakomstva.odnoklassniki.ru/ in mind fore later. But thanks for the advice one luckylovers.net, it seams like great site and maybe in the future I can cal myself a “Lucky Lover”?

Good to know  , I think I’ll probably focus most on the dating sites and remember the advise concerning AFA if choose to use that agency in the future. Though, with your advice in mind I’ll probably look at Elena’s before AFA if the dating sites fail to deliver.

Hi Gator.. But you DON'T know if she's looking at YOU... you can't chat interactively  - within their system - and how does one know the type of man she is really interested by her EOI responses  ?

I never rated EM that highly- rather a triumph of marketing over results for me ... but certainly better than AFA and all it's other incarnations..

I first used Elena's Models in my fifth year of doing this, when planning my fourth WMVM trip.  I would send an EOI to EM ladies of interest, and when one "winked" back, I would write her a letter.  Not a canned letter, but a good one tailored to her profile.  If she responded with an interesting letter, I would fire a second short letter suggesting that we talk instead of writing letters.  Most agreed and gave me their telephone number.  Saved a lot of time.  Never met any of the EM women even though I confirmed travel plans with three.  The WMVM trip became WMVO.

2.  The name "Smooth Operator" is already taken by a despicable, arrogant,  superficial man who posted in years past on another forum, where he belittled the "not beautiful" people.

Say what you want about Smooth, I found him quite entertaining.  There is a lot of superficiality in the world, and if you refuse to acknowledge that you'll find yourself in a world of grief.  I agree that he was shallow and superficial, but there were some common-sense nuggets of wisdom in some (but not all) of the things he said.

I have a tendancy to approve of guys that are a little cocky as long as they're grounded in the real world.  There was a controversial guy named LP that used to post on these boards that I liked but many others disliked.

However, don't think I'm a can't-everyone-just-love-one-another type of guy.  There are a small number True Douchebags on these boards.

Hi Gator, it's all about personal preferences again -  sorry but I found the EOI thing a little "immature"  - initiating chat's on Luckylovers, too!

I like the feature on LL that allows bothe the man and woman to see if they are being viewed - and by whom - a pattern evolves -one knows who is interested - you aren't "shooting in the dark"!  If, there is someone you are interested in, *I* think it is better to write a short intro letter, first.

I don't know this character you refer to, but I use the term in the context of a Man who is confident in approaching a woman - AND the song by Sade of the same name is a classic .. if you thought it was some sort of "insult"...

You would have to have read "Smooth" for some time to really understand just how seriously jaded he was.  His basic law was "the use of superior finance to effect control."  Then, love and leave them; seemingly always looking for something better.
His personal version of the 10 commandments is still a classic (I do not mean that in a good way), but scary.   Personally, I miss "Boston Bubba" and hope for his appearence someday.
