The Sad Story of Beautiful Nina Reiser
« on: July 09, 2008, 09:13:39 PM »
There was a story on ABC Primetime tonight.

For those who missed it here is the summary.
AM Hans Reiser goes to St. Petersburg, Russia in search of a wife. He has a " date " with a young woman arranged by an agency. He falls not for the lady but for the interpreter, Nina. A physician in her town.

A year later, she is five months pregnant and they get married in a rather strange ceremony; the guy appears weird.

They live in Alameda County in Northern California; soon they have another child.

Fast forward five years, she wants to go to work, he does not want her to. They have disgreements, she files for divorce just after she became a US citizen.

Soon thereafter she disappears. Police suspects the husband, he denies it. There is a trial he takes the stand and denies having anything to do with the her disappearance.

Jury does not buy it, he is found guilty and scheduled for sentencing set on July 11.

A few days before the sentencing, last Monday Hans cuts a deal with the prosecutors; for a reduction in sentence to 15 years, he agrees to plead guilty and takes them to the spot where she is buried.

His family was against the marriage to begin with, his father has some choice words for Nina including " Gold digger " " Visa ... "; he alleges that she became pregnant to trap him.

There are allegations of Nina having affairs.

Hans certainly looks and behaves strange.

There was Indle King, and now this. The story is certain to get a lot of play in FSU.

Sad indeed. But, I think I read that over 70% of all homicides are one spouse killing the other. Sad, but not news. However, if its an international marriage, the feminist influence will make a BIG deal out of it here. And I'm sure, for other reasons, the Russian media will make a BIG deal out of over there too. American feminists absolutely do not want American men to have the freedom to court and marry foreign women. Hence IMBRA. Hence, headline news if anything goes wrong.

Olga, thanks for the link. So, not only was this an international marriage scandal, but this guy was a celebrity as well. Yes indeed, that will hit the media big time.

More money than brains.  If that was true, why was he driving an 18 year old Honda CRX and living at mama's house?  A drastic reversal of fortune maybe?  Did that lead to the split?  This guy was clearly intelligent and successful (at one point) but also a nut case.  Her parents were against the marriage.  What did they see that she didn't?

I noticed that the wiki article say he met her through a "mail order bride catalog"  Probably extracted from a newpaper article somewhere.

Yes. No matter what the circumstances leading up to it, to have such a result - that is a seriously damaged human.

very sad story..

i have no doubt he is guilty.he took the police to her body in a plea bargin deal?

 the case strange and twisted..
and the trial itself seems weird..

Quote
Defense attorney William DuBois cross-examined the witnesses about Nina's extramarital affair with Reiser's former best friend, Sean Sturgeon. (The jury was not allowed to hear testimony that Sturgeon has confessed to killing eight people unrelated to the case, in retaliation for child abuse.).

It says he met her while working in st pete.
So she marrys a rather strange but successful man, capable of murder,
and
also has an affair with a man that confessed to killing 8 people?
Statistacally it would be difficult for any woman to randomly meet 2 murderers ,much less be romantically involved with two??
it sounds like she almost looked for trouble or this type of damaged person..
(no that doesnt in anyway justfy his actions, but makes you wonder "why"
she was involved with two  psychopaths?)

.

This is too strange, from a legal perspective. How can a judge say it is not relevant that the woman was having an affair with a serial killer ????? :cluebat:

The guy is a nut.. a cross dresser into bondage & S&M .. If there was any truth to the confessions I would imagine he would have been arrested and charged.. and then it would probably have been used by the defense in this case.

It's a sad strange story.

What bugs me, is that some places continue to use the term "Mail order Bride", and the Wikipedia article on Hans Reiser says "Hans Reiser selected from a mail-order bride catalogue, and subsequently married, Nina " ... as if he paid for her and she came UPS or something.

It's as if him being a murderer is not enough, he has to be a mail order bride murderer... or insinuating that someone who gets a mail order bride is weird, and therefore may be a murderer.

Only 1 avatar has been harmed in the making of this post.. and in my defense.., avatar torture is a "grey area" and has only been used in this case to extract information.. and besides, isn't golf just self induced torture anyway ?

I'm not sure who those who choose to use the "mail order catalog" terminology are trying to insult most.  For me, it seems ludicrous that a reporter use that terminology when the two of them were living in the same city.  It's also insulting to her memory to falsely state that she would put herself up as an MOB candidate in some catalog.

When will people who want to portray themselves as broad-minded generally, stop referring to dating services as "mail order bride catalog
or "international marriage brokers" when in fact the only difference between them and Yahoo personals or Match.com is the fact that the women don't live in the U.S.?

A Briton, Neil Entwistle, murdered his American wife and their baby daughter in Massachussetts, then fled to England.

I never read a single comment in our press about "mail order husband."  How come?

Was his wife Rachel considered a "mail order bride" by the British Press?  Just askin'

Ronnie, I just made a comment about this coincidentally in a new post "the poison of western feminism", because of another article I just saw making all the same derogatory aspertions.
