UW and Putin

Hi Folks,

When meeting UW's I have found politics to be very sticky.  Here are some of the comments I have heard from some of the Ladies...

Most Popular...  I wish we had a leader like Putin


One meeting had this dialogue:
my reply... why?

her reply...  He established stability and prosperity in Russia

my reply... He did it by force, killing his opponents and intimidation

Her reply... well by any means necessary.

How about the Orange Revolution...  It was instigated by the US and caused a lot of harm all over the country.   don't believe the American Propoganda.

Or the idea that America is the big bully butting into everybodys business?

Can anybody give a thumbnail sketch of the Ukrainian Politcal Parties and what each of them stand for?

Ben this is an image of the general political preference in Ukraine.



In the 'blue' areas you will find in general more political support for Russia, in the 'orange' areas you might find more political support for the EU/US. But this is a very rough draft from the time of the presidential elections, and reality is going to be a lot more mixed.
I would advise you not to get in to politics without knowing the ideas of the woman, and some studying of the political world views in the FSU.

The woman I am committed to is politically affiliated.  She is working for a major party directly and involved in the election.  She is Eastern.  The story goes, she didn't even want to meet with me because I was American, was persuaded by the agency and fell in love.  Leaving at the airport was like an amputation for us she said, I must go where you go...even (gasp) America.  I am trying to do my h/w and stay on top of things. 

We have agreed not to talk about politics and can joke about it and keep it as a joke.  me being the pro violent NRA type and her being the Communist (not her party) spy.  She says her work is dirty and cut throat and does not like to talk about it because it is confidential but mostly upsetting.
