Even though I also disagree with the advice Stevej gave to you, do you think it is necessary for you to mock him?  He was only trying to help you with your problem.  I believe his intentions were sincere.

Yes, Steviej formulated his main idea not very well initially but he corrected himself later on. 
It is NOT good to mock person who is trying to help.

Well, it was explained to me that it's pretty much a Russians Trait, not to introduce themselves or take interest in their fellow Countrymen/women? When Sveta and I were in Punta Cana last December we saw a few Russian couples. I said to her more than once, "why don't you say hello?" God knows that Canadians and Americans most always do so! She explained to me that, "Russians don't do this, we aren't like you Westerners!" After a Show one evening I finally persuaded her to say hello to a Russian couple we were sitting next to..... Amazingly she agreed!..... the Mojitos may have helped??? lol! Oh yes they did!! Well, Svet said something in Russian to the female. Next thing I know she grabbed her RM's arm and literally ran off!! I asked Svet what she said???...... Sveta, "I said hello where are you from, did you enjoy the show?!?" That was it! I couldn't believe it! Svet assured me that it was a normal Russian reaction My Russian Teacher affirmed this. She told me about all the times she was so excited to see and hear another Russian 'voice in the crowd'... only to approach them and be blown off! She couldn't quite understand this attitude, she was Russian

 Guys there is nothing wrong for RW to be on RW forums ( like Chinese to be on Chinese forums). We (RW) sometimes feel lonely in this country and it is only natural as we left our families behind. There is nothing wrong for RW wanting to contact RW just because they are country mates.

Somebody's wife is on RW forum and she chooses to only retell sour threads to her husband. It is up to her but this is not the reason to think all the girls on these forum are "crooked" or "flipped"
  What is really NOT normal is somebody's wish to control his wife's way of making friends. Come on guys! You didn't marry a pet or a kid!

 The last thing RW (or any women) need is their husbands' instrustions.
I have to admit it is not healthy to be on Internet all days long but I guess the subject was about the "quality" of RW. let your wives judge themselves(which they will do anyway, trust me!)

Oh sure my husband did try to tell me how to choose friends  - it didn't work.
The most recent thing was when he introduced me to a woman and told me I had to make friends with her. "Have why?"-"She is your age, she is getting through a hard time and I would think...." This "I would think" turned me off right away.

Your wife desperately needs to be mobile and mobile with confidence.  It may take more of your time to help her than you are willing to give, but that seems to be the root of the problem IMO.

Its probably not far from the things people develop when they have children. 

First they want the baby to walk. Once it can, is has to sit still.
First they are encouriging the baby to say the first word. Once it speaks fluently it is requested to be quiet.

Its just sooo hard to please humans.

It also depends on when. When my wife first arrived, she would introduce herself to people speaking Russian. Now, she doesn't really feel the need. The other day, we were in our local supermarket and we heard two women speaking in Russian. My wife ordered me to speak English as she did not want to meet them.

After more talk on this over the weekend --between drives--I did get her to admit that.

I get the image in my brain of  a wife coming on to the door with 20 bags and then telling her husband how much money she saved by buying it on discount. :evil:

Luckily I am more or less similar to my wife. We can save when needed, and spend when we feel it is a useful thing to do.
