Meeting FSU/UW in the USA

... OK, say we are real interested in seeking a FSU/UW but don't have the budget to travel half way around the world.  I am sure that there are a fair amount of single FSU/UW here in the USA.  So how would one go about finding them?  Any ideas on where to search?

New York City - Brighton Beach is pretty Russian.

There are immigrant clubs in large cities in US. 

Chicago has large Polish group. 

There are many pockets in US.

You can find many Russian ladies that are already in US on single sites - lucky lovers is one.

Some cities have large FSU populations and poke around there or you can go to sites such as bride.ru or freepersonals.ru and use their search engine and find all the ones living in States.

Over the last seven years I met 8 single RW on Yahoo personals, two more in a local Starbucks while getting a coffee, some on TAU2 that were from all over Russia now living in USA.  In the end, I decided to meet  with Galina in Tashkent Uzbekistan, and was glad I did. I wanted to live in her city a while with her family and learn how they grew up over the years, walking the streets, eating their foods, shopping in their stores enjoying their rich culture and history and leautiful language.  I emersed myself in it. Now, a year later I am still flying back and forth until my bride arries here legally.  We learn to respect each other more when we walk  a few miles in each others shoes. It's definately a different world living in a communist republik like these Muslim FSU countries.
 
I know of Russian communities in San Diego (El Cajon), LA, Sacramento, San Francisco, Orange County, Denver, Miami, NYC of course, and Im sure spread out all over cities in USA. I met my first Ukrainian GF while she was living in Indiana.

By the way, Billyb if you read this, our flat in Tashkent is across the street from Alesky bazar or in Uzbek "Olesky bazaro" behind the Ardus market downtown.  Maybe at some point we will bump into you in our travels. Also this photo is taken during our dinner at a German pub in Tashent, great food and music, the beer was excellent.

I am sure RW in the US have higher financial standards than those from Russia or Ukraine, especially small cities.

You want to cut the expenses on the right and they will bite you on the bottom on the left.... 

Character wise, RW in the US will be much less submissive, care more about where you live and what you drive.....(not that it is bad either  ), at the same time there will be no language or culture adjustment and so on...

You have to weigh all these things and decide what is more important to you.

The choice is yours.

I have been spending some time with some Russian girls here in San Francisco.  Those that are most "available" are all here on student Work and Travel Program visas, and, they all have overstayed their visas.  They have all hired Russian immigration lawyers to get their visas fixed.  The methods used were frankly far from legit.. fake photos of a woman the girl was to claim was her Chechen war refugee mother living in Vladikavkaz and burnt to a crisp.  Illegal but it worked and she got her provisional green card.  The other gal is in a sham marriage with a Russian guy from New York.  She is paying him not in cash if you get my meaning.  These gals are a lot of fun.. in the nightclub every weekend until late and they party like there is no tomorrow.  Marriage material?  I think not.  I also met a more mature lady from Novosibirsk who came here with her teenage daughters on a tourist visa after she got a divorce from her Russian husband.  Her first "tourist activity" was a visit to Immigration to change her status to "Student" for which they were going to require her to go full time, which she neither had the money to pay for her community college enrollment, nor her living expenses if she were to actually go to school full time.  Her older daughter who is 18 got married right away to a Russian American guy, the younger daughter is still in school.  She implied to me directly enough but without coming out and saying so that she would be happy to marry me for papers, but, since I had only met her twice I was not interested, even though she was very attractive and intelligent and seemed very sweet.  I knew it would not be a marriage that would last.  I tried to continue to get to know her but she never responded to a phone call or email afterwards.

I have had some contact with some others through the Jewish Community Center, but, there are a whole different set of issues there.

I have had some other contacts with divorced ladies.  I suspect some of them may have been GCG's or used their now ex husbands as mules.  This type seems to be pretty aggresive on some sites and they will make first contact and are very pushy about meeting IRL.  Not to be trusted either.

I have found a group of people that so far seem nice through the Russian Cultural Center.  They have outings to films and concerts and other events with men and women, though, my Russian language skills are not really up to the task. 

I am pointing this all out because if you are going to try for RW/UW already here you are opening the doors to a different set of problems.  After half a year of wasting time locally I am a lot more inclined to go back to Ukraine or Russia and give it another try, even though agency BS had me really down on travelling over there again.  I will never spend anothe rpenny with an agency but more and more there are other ways to get in contact with serious and real girls with no interference from a profit hungry agency.

I dated a fair number of such women years ago and it seemed to me most weren't mulish on their men  - rather they married one-week-wonders and hoped for the best before realizing they'd picked the wrong guy, or vice-versa. I did meet a few GCGs though, but not many.

I've read guys bashing single FSU women who are living in the US, but in my experience they are no "worse" or no "better" than women living in their native countries. The desperate or conniving FSU women seem a helluva a lot more sweeter when you meet them in their home cities - why do you think that is, guys?  Also, much has been written about how dating local FSU women is more difficult due to the level playing field. However, I always felt the playing field was tilted more in my favor because I could take my sweet time and date the normal way. If things seemed fishy or simply weren't working I broke things off painlessly and without guilt. And the higher living standard meant a woman could never blow me off for a week and then claim her mobile was stolen or she couldn't get to the internet cafe

Please do not take my posting the wrong way.  I think it is possible to find a good FSU lady already here in the states.. but I wanted to point out there are other considerations involved that do not exist with ladies still in their home country.  I am still trying even though I haven't had good luck yet.  I would also agree there is less emotional investment on the male end when the lady is local.  It is nto much different than dating any other woman locally, just with a cuter accent.

Sculpto, your post was spot-on, just thought I'd add my own experiences. There are plenty of guys who will tell you to avoid local FSU women because those back in the old country are more pure of intent, which is hogwash. But as Anastassia pointed out above, if the OP is pursuing local FSU women simply because he can't afford to travel, he's at third and ten before even stepping onto the playing field.

There are many RW in the States, but I doubt that they are single. The dating situation is completely different than this in Russia. Most women find their mates even without going on websites. I mean RM now. Being immigrants, RM leave all their spoilinness and tastes aside, and court just any Russian speaking woman. I got my share of attention right after I came from O'Hare and started looking for rent in Chicago, where I was on the exchange visa. I could not believe it! I even was able to choose between great FSU men, never experienced that before.

For a RW in the US, the dating odds are definitely in her favor. If ca71447 wants to try, he could step in for competition

Great info from all!!!!  I am eating up all the info that all of you are posting.  Please keep it coming.  This is really giving me some real good food for thought.  Not too sure what I will be doing yet ... but I sure do appreciate all the advice.  I look forward to more .... and this is good info for anyone else who might have had the same thoughts as me, so keep it coming ....

These are the many now grown children of the previous FSU generation and so are already citizens.

Here's the kicker though...New York City is also really expensive.
Fortunately, my wife's son and daughter in law live right there in Brooklyn.
We went to the beach every day.

Not sure where you live or what type of woman you are really interested in meeting but this may be another option.
My wife is Russian Orthodox and I have been attending church services w/ her. We live in the midwest so it was one way for her to find/meet local Russians. The Orthodox church here even has a visiting Russian priest that gives a service in Russian once a month. After the services, they have Russian socials where we have gotten to meet the locals. Some are even a few single/divorced women. And meeting a women in Church can't be all bad, can it? 
If unfamiliar with the Orthodox church (I knew very little), I found much of the Orthodox services to be very similar to my Catholic church services.
