Are any of you guys NFL or college football fans? For those who are have any of you gotten your wives interested in the game. I ask because I have the feeling that come Sunday I am going to have to put my lady out to pasture (aka shopping) in order to be able to enjoy my games. I do think that I can interest her in horse racing, especially if she can win some money at it. As far as the car racing goes...nope...not a chance...and fishing? I think I can get her involved in that because she loves sushi.

My wife has no problem with me watching any sports on TV.  She expects it.  Her dad always watches sports in Russia on TV whenever he can.   My wife prefers to watch boxing, but she will watch a bit of football.  She does not like baseball and appreciates hockey.  I think all girls will be different depending upon their family and background.

Nadia will watch the football with me, but shows absolutley no interest in Cricket, even after the fourth day of the fifth test.

We played cricket in the park, Nadia has a fair pull shot and nice square drive. However, her forward defensive is non-existent.

The old saying IS true, you just cannot teach a woman the value of a good forward defensive stroke.

I am a Steeler fan and if you are in Pittsburgh the whole world revolves around the Steelers.    I do watch the game.   Luda sits there and says a few times that it is really boring.  I tell her to close her eyes and pretend she is watching something interesting.

I am an Eagles fan, and this city is crazy about them. My wife grew up in a family where her father always watched soccer and her ex did also, so she sort of allows for this. Of course, later in the evening, I did watch two hours of Russian language concerts and TV shows, just to balance things out:)

When you watch the Russian channel for a prolonged period of time do you tend to begin to learn the language? When I was in Moscow I watched the English channels. Even then the Russian channels, when showing an American movie, I could hear the English because in most instances they just talk Russian over the English dialoge. It was a coincidence that when my son and I frist switched on the TV in our hotel room that the movie we saw was filimed in the city that we live in. We had seen the movie, my son knew one of the actesses in the movie (he played video game with her in Florida) and the movie location was our city. It was interresting to watch it all in Russian.

PeeWee,

No, I have watched the Russian Channels very extensively lately :P and am dismayed to find that my very basic understanding of a few words of the Russian language has not changed. We joke that I understand Russian about as well as a very young dog would.:) Maybe someone else can retain the language better than I. Or maybe I should try to pay more attention to the Russian cartoons.

For me I think my Russian is going to improve.   I have tried about everything to learn Russian and know a few words but listing to the Russian Channel all the time I am starting to undrstand a few sentances.  It is scary.  I am learning more not trying.

Yes I agree about the dubbing.   I watched a movie on the Russian Channel with Sharon Stone last night and could follow most of what was going on.   When I first started going to Russia a long time ago most of the movies were very old and very poorly dubbed.   It was easy to follow them.   Lately on my trips it seemed like the dubbing was better and it was much harder to follow them.
