Marry my Czech GF while she is visiting U.S. ?
« on: November 03, 2008, 12:34:59 PM »
Guys:  As of 17 Nov., Czech citizens can enter the U.S. with just an
electronic passport (with electronic chip). No visa is required.
If my GF comes to the U.S., can we marry without her returning to Czech Republic to get a spousal immigration permit ?

Warren,

I seem to recall long ago you writing about a RW whom you bought here on a K1 who subsequently disappeared and went to live w/another man.

Why on earth would you try taking another shortcut?

Have to agree here. As Czech citizens can travel freely to the US, and with their EU citizenship this is not bound to change soon, why not use the normal procedures ? If togetherness is the key, the times that formal presence in Czech is not required she can travel to you for 90 days in a row.
No it is not a dog. Its really how I look.  ;)

Groovelstk:  Good memory but you only have part of the story. Here is the total story about the previous marriage to Vika.  She was married to a Ukraine man when she had a terrible auto accident down a hillside.  She was unconscious in the hospital for 6 days. This resulted in a "hidden mental condition" known as "explosive physical aggression". She got a Ukraine divorce.

I met her in Ukraine and courted her for 10 months and met her in Ukraine and Russia. Her "hidden mental state" never surfaced in the short meeting times. I brought her over on a K-1 visa.  We were married for 4 months. During that time, her "explosive physical aggression" occurred about once a month for the last three months of marriage. I did not know what was going on. (I found out later). I had enough of the attacks and shipped her back to Ukraine. I kept in touch with her.

Within a year, she met a second American and came over on another K-1. She married him (her 3rd husband).  In 6 months, she was back in Ukraine with her profile posted on 5 Agencies.  She found another American guy and is now in the U.S.  As the saying goes "you never know a person until you live with them"
