Two weeks in Moscow
« on: October 02, 2005, 08:22:06 PM »
Woops. Two weeks in Russia actually. Finally have the time to write a report. I write with some trepidation because I dont know who that I may have met will read this.

The trip was classic FSU comedy of errors. My interpreter asked a younger girl where an internet cafe was and she responded by saying "what is an internet cafe?"

Went to Moscow to meet a specific girl but it was a disaster. Nice girl, attractive, speaks perfect English, been to the US twice, but zero chemistry. Immediately got a hold of oldmanfriday. He shows up with an orange LA County jail tshirt on I thought he must be one of my criminal defense clients.

He set me up with a local agency - Moscow Lady - that day. Outstanding services of Olga and Andrey. They have about 500 women online and another 1500 in the office. I picked out about 30 girls and met with about 10. The girl I spent the most time with was a 9 or so (Kate) on the richter scale. A little young (22) but she seems mature for her age. She is from Saransk so she doesnt seem spoiled like some others I met with (e.g. I am a descendant of Catherine the Great and I am looking for a rich american lawyer).

Kate speaks basic English and really made a great effort to try and learn English as we were going along. An interpreter was with us sporadically (and for those critical moments).

We have been emailing each other frequently and I am thinking about a warm place for a week this winter.

Regarding Russia, Red Square and St. Petersburg were awesome. Even if nothing else works out it was an incredible education. As in most of the FSU countries, there were huge disparities in wealth in Moscow. Seems like every car was an S600 Mercedes or a trashed Lada. As a side note, I highly recommend against a taxi ride in a Lada unless you are suicidal.

One frustrating thing was being stopped every 15 minutes by the police to show my papers. I must have had the word "Chechnyan" stamped on my forehead. Also, getting Kate into the hotel the first time proved to be a disaster. I couldnt believe how even the smallest things proved to be a hollywood production. I initially just laughed at most of the things but then was mad as hell by the end of the trip.

I actually spent some helpful time with the Russian MP's in Tver. I got lost as hell and they were great. I was stunned. One of them insisted that we have our picture taken together. Thanks for reading.

Solomon

P.S. DO NOT go by any name that sounds Jewish in the FSU (whether you are a Jew or not). Found out six months after I started this journey that most of them think I am a Jew and thus have no desire to be with me. No wonder this process has been like finding the ark.

Hello Solomon,

From the first quote, i see that you trip is not fully a loose... you take the tourist side like a benefice... Myself, i have find St. Petersburg a wonder... it is a copy from the french Versaille but the copy is better that the original and in better state...

About the second quote, it was a detail like nobody can think about before... what do you plan... change your name :D... My first wife and specialy her family have always use my second name... "George" who give "gorky" in russian :D ...

And what happen with "Kate"... is it always some following... some hope... If you have find the right one in only two week, fell you a lucky guy...

Regarding Kate, like I said, emailing and maybe a trip to some place warm in the winter. Whether she is the one has yet to be seen.

Regarding my name, my middle name is Samuel so I guess I am screwed regarding the Jew problem.

Solomon, any more details about what happened during the course of your trip, where you went, what you liked best specifically etc.?  I am not clear if you do or do not have a possibile long term romance in the Moscow region - which I hope you do.

It is funny you mention police checks and Moscow.  I have been to Moscow many times.  On the first trip I was checked once, on the second trip I was checked four times in one day.  On subsequent trips alone I was never checked.  On my last three or so trips in and around Moscow I've always been with my fiance / wife so never a problem.  Still, I know the fear of being hassled by the Moscow police.  Luckily, they just checked my papers and let me go on my way, which of course happened to your as well.  The point I am trying to make is not to take it personally.  If you are not a tall nordic or obviously Russian looking kind of guy you fit the profile.  Depending upon the time and place you may be stopped.  At first, based on my initial trips to Moscow I assumed that any time I would be in Moscow alone I should expect to be hassled by the police.  That turned out not to be correct.

You picked great cities to visit, so like you said, whether you met the love of your life or not - its a great vacation.

a 9 only  when i see the picture, i give her a 10 only for her smile... have a RW photo's with a big smile is very difficult... i have see some other photo from her and i give her a 10 without problem ( see below for a sample :P )...

Young (22 )... if i good remember your profile , you are not a old man ;)... and you are physicaly in good shape ...

And she is certainly a very good woman because she is birth the 14 May like me :P

Maybe you can ask her what she mean by : " My goal is to make my life standards higher and develop myself socially. " ... it is the only think who sound strange about her... but maybe it is only a healthy ambition...

Was I just lucky?  I was never approached for identification in Moscow, etc.  although I was sure to carry my passport with me.  Also, Kate and I never had any trouble with the hotel staff regarding visits, etc..  Of course, we DID have a few issues in Belarus.

Will different hotels actually treat the issue of "visitors" differently?  In Moscow, we stayed at the Marriot Aurora whereas in Belarus... the choice was far more limited.

Maybe I lowballed her at a 9. She has a fantastic body I know that for sure. The 9 included the total package.

She definitely has a healthy ambition. She wants to own her own business and seems to have the logistics already figured out. First time I heard that of almost any girl.

Regarding age, Levitra is my friend.

Todd

I'd not been approached by the police on two trips to Moscow. I wondered about it too. So when I spoted three cops in a metro station I approached them. one of the three spoke some english. I gave them all a bit of ___, they walked away laughing. Hey, what can I say, I like to live on the edge.

It sounds as if you had a successful trip to Moscow and beyond. I have it in my mind to visit St.Pete. I may return to Moscow on November. Not that I want to as I think it might be a might cold for me. And I hear you regarding the cars. I took a taxi ride in rush hour that would rival any scene from Star Wars.

9 for full package... inner and outside beauty... seem very good... now, i am sure that you don't regret your two week in Russia, same if you have know some little problem in the begin...

Ambition can be very good when oriented to work... several people speak about the "American dream" but a few know that you need work a lot for realize it... America is the country of all opportunity but the confortable life is the result of big work and ambition... sitting and waiting lead to povrety... in the case of your lady, she wish work and have ambition... i don't think that she will be a lasting post for you...

In any case, good luck for the future...

I was approached by the police while walking in Red Square with my future wife in August. They looked at my passport and very carefully at the small paper that you receive at SVO when you arrive.

They actually gave my wife a more difficult time, as her passport had her address in Stavropol and she had no documentation on where we were staying and how she arrived in Moscow. She told me that they wanted to shake me down for some money anyway, but she argued with them until they got tired and gave up.

I should add that the cops were most interested in her when we walked out of the hotel one night at about 1:30 am. No money though, she towed the line. Clearly they thought she part of housekeeping.

Regarding my long term relationship, I think I have a very good possibility of a long term relationship with Kate. She is persistent in emailing me every day. Calling her is tough because of her English, but she is supposed to be finding out about tutoring, etc.

Only three cities I went to were Moscow, St. Pete, and Tver. St. Pete is awesome for sightseeing. You must go to Petergov (spelling?) outside of St. Pete to see the summer palace of Catherine.

Moscow is great for both meeting women and for sightseeing. I think the city is a must for a Russian trip. Red Square and the surrounding areas are pretty amazing. I came a hair away from test driving a new Ferrari but we had to bolt. Only regret from the trip and possibly meeting a couple more girls.

Bruce, when you ask about what happened during the course of the trip I am not sure if you mean regarding the meetings or just the adventure in general. If it's regarding the women, you may want to PM me.

I think the logistics involved in your trip ie. how you went about getting from city to city.  What really impressed you and why?  What your thought process was at the time you were meeting multiple women (I assume) in a day was.  Kate looks great.  The key is if she can stand your test of time to the point where you may want to elevate your relationship to more than a foreign girlfriend.

Tanya, the girl I originally went to meet, went with me to St. Pete. On the second day there I just wanted to sleep (because I hadnt slept the last two nights). She pushed me to go to the sights and in hindsight it was worth it.

The logistics of my trip to Tver was a disaster. My interpreter put me on the train and Ira was to meet me at the platform. I misunderstood and blew right out of the train station. The backup plan was to meet at the tourist office. I asked many people and none of them could understand me or didnt know where it was.

As a very last resort, I asked a Russian MP. They turned out to be great. One spoke broken English. We took pictures, laughed at sex phrases in my Russian book, and waited for Ira to come to the station (one of them called her). Before she arrived she assumed that I was in cuffs being tortured into confessing to a murder. She put me on the train back to Moscow and everything was fine.

It is difficult to say what really impressed me the most. The buildings and the architecture in Red Square and in St. Pete did. I thought the fact that most of the young people spoke no English was a little odd (I thought that at least half of them learned it in school). The disparity in wealth in Moscow was more than I have ever seen in any large city in the world. Moscow had some very cutting edge things and then some that were medieval at best.

Meeting at least a couple women every day was interesting and painful at the same time. Some very interesting women, but then some women that I knew almost immediately things would not work out. It continues to stun me that so many beautiful women can be single. Towards the latter part of the trip I spent more and more time with Kate.

We shall see if Kate can stand the test of time. I think her age will be a big factor. But, so far very good results.
