Have a good one ;)

..As we don't celebrate this event ( this side of the pond) - can our Canadian "cousins" tell me - do you celebrate this festival, too ?

Canadian Thanksgiving is in October. And yes, it is as big a deal there as it is in the US.

Our first "Thanksgiving" together was spent touring Red Square....it was the day before we departed
for the USA. Not a turkey in sight - so we settled for some very delicious sandwiches purchased from
one of the many kiosks outside Rechnoi Vokzal. Two nights later, Elvira and Lenara were riding the
carousel in Bryant Park near the NYC Public Library.

This is always a special weekend for us, kind of like a homecoming. Our fondest wishes to all of you.

And may the spirit of this Thanksgiving go across the pond, and inland many thousand of miles as well.

Just remembering how tough it is to find a turkey for Thanksgiving in Ukraine.  Had the same problem in Ecuador. Roast chicken just doesn't seem to have the same feeling to it.  Maybe Ben Franklin was right in suggesting it for the national bird.

Happy thanksgiving to all!

I don't like turkey that much, plus the beastly bird is way to big for 2 of us.   So couple of years ago we made Pecking Duck instead and last year we stuffed a Ducken (smaller version of Turdaken  :D )

Happy Thanksgiving!

Thanks for this "Catz". I'm presuming it's earlier as you are further north and the harvest times are earlier ? ...

I lived there for 14 years and never looked into the why of the date. The shortened growing season does make sense but knowing "Canajuns" they may just do it to be different!  :D

May also be related to something from English/Irish/Welsh/Scottish as they follow a lot of the same holiday traditions like Boxing Day.

Russians usually roast a goose, but not for Thanksgiving but for the New Year.

Our cat Pushkin has been chasing some geese in the backyard; I wonder if he could forage us a bird for the holiday.

Big cat, small goose? Possible.

Alas, Pushkin is 3.5 months old and about 1/3 the size of the goose, but he's a vicious fighter!  He wouldn't be afraid to attack a small deer if one came by.  Is there hope?

Tasha, my Black Russian Terrier ( all 120 pounds of her) took on a black bear in my daughters back yard. The bear turn and ran.
