Every once in a while I look up above our cabinets and notice yet another piece of Gzhel pottery.

I suspect her question comes from the perspective of someone raised in a country without A/C, screens or fans.  Having high ceilings allows a tad of heat relief in flats, offices and detached homes. 10' and 12' ceilings are not uncommon in the older buildings here and many in the FSU regard new construction in the traditional western/modern styles as odd. They wonder how we will keep the heat from building up during the day in those low-ceilinged rooms.

When one of my friends was completely re-decorating his house 2 months before his wife was expected I said "why are you doing this when she will be here in 2 months".

He said " because she will be here in 2 months and I don't want her opinion".   :o

Hello Caddydaddy.

Your girl doesn't know Sculpto ?? Does she ??

Maybe she wants to know about the ceiling height because she is a fire twirler also?   8)

Just kidding.  :D

All joking aside, glad to read about your continued happiness.  :)

Zdrastvuj all,

GOB, lol, even thought she surprised me already with different outfits, but not as fire twirler yet. Better don't tell her, she may get funny ideas...  ;D

SMS60, believe me, my curiosity is running too, but all I get to hear is: I am thinking, is secret! Ok, in this case, ahm...

Diplomacy, ECOCKS, Chicagoguy and OlgaH, I suspect it has something to do with decorating. Well, she can decorate however she likes, I will not say much, I am sure she has good taste and she should feel "at home". And as long as she will not decorate my garage and workshop all is well  :P

JollyRats, you bring it to the point. I hope that too, no I know it  ;) After the disaster with my Ex, local dating, FSU search and an experience in Siberia I learned one thing: Listen very well to your inner voice and follow your heart. If there are any doubts as small as they seem to be - forget it. Not so with my Baby, she's a gem among all those women..., I am sure!

Привет all,

Next Saturday heaven on earth will happen again, I can go for my Baby at the airport! She will be here for another two weeks.
We used the time to discuss questions as mutual expectations, outlook, finances, her adaption here etc.
Important subjects, but at the end we still know that we love each other... ;D

It will be our destiny meet, I plan to get officially engaged with her.
And I will indulge into materialism, since she doesn't have a digital camera I will get her a nice little Ladies camera as small welcome gift.

My Baby will be here again!!!
 :flowers:
Чудесный!

So far, so good,
Caddydaddy

Congratulations Caddydaddy!

I only wish you and your beloved the most happiness.

BTW.....I am curious, what was the "ceiling height" thing about?

Hi all,

So, hm, my Baby is back home and I am again alone in this house, I could climb up the walls!
Our 3rd meeting was a full success, we are engaged, she wears a nice engagement ring on her finger  :)
Next month I will be in Latvia and will get inspected by all of her close relatives. In July she will be here again for another 14 days.
In the meantime I will dig in into the paper war about marriage, what documents are required etc... and then we will see  :D

We spent our time like an "old" couple  ;D. Some days I had off and we went sightseeing, going in town, looking new furniture and household things (all the nice things I had went with my Ex...) This gives opportunity that she can create "her" home like she is imaging. Other days I worked and she did the household. Of course she has a big concern and told me:
Honey, you know I love and trust you and I like it here, but I will depend all on you when I am here, do you understand this? My answer was: Baby, of course I am well aware of that. I will support you with all I can and if there is problem, we will discuss it and search for a solution. The good thing is, we are open books for each other. She knows my actual situation in every detail and I know hers, we are very honest to each other and the base is very good for a new start.

Ok, we know that we love each other (most important), but now it starts that we seriously take care of our future life together ;D

Caddydaddy
life goes on and yes, we can!  :D

Привет all,

So, things get clear and we know the official proceed how she can register here and what papers for marriage are needed. I asked her if she would truly like to come here and live with me, ты хочешь? and I got a да, я хочу!  :D

If someone would have told me a year ago you would soon have a Wife from the FSU, I would have answered bluntly: are you crazy? If someone would have told me I would start to speak Russian language I would also have said pull the other one!

And today? I am thrilled to the bits! What a wonderful woman she is! In two weeks I am in Latvia together with her in her flat. I wonder how her relatives will react  :-\

Caddydaddy

btw, моя латышская Русская is definitively not "whacked"!!

Privet all,

Wow, I see a warning text, the thread is getting old, like me, hehe.
Ok, so this will be my last update with this title, because my hope truly turns into reality soon.
It was planned three weeks ago that I would go to Latvia get introduced to her close family members.
Instead deduchka - that's me  ;) - got a virus infection and I was in hospital for 6 days and this for the first time in my life! No it was not the Swine Flu virus! I had my flight ticket, had booked a car, had all ready, but no... :(
Fortunately I got a big long distance support from my Baby and just now she is here again at my place for 3 weeks  :D
We started to collect our papers to file for marriage, not an easy task because in our case 4 different countries are involved, but that's another story... Fact is, we will have it all together maybe in two weeks and can open our file for marriage at the municipal administration at my place.
And I am so pleased about my Darling, she is so wonderful. Some may remember that she wanted to know some dimensions of ceilings and windows. Now she brought new curtains which she sewed together with her sister at her home! I am overwhelmed!

I saw the thread about "what is a ten" - well, my Baby is not a 10, she is a 100 and this in character, looks, heart and soul!!

Ok, latest news from Caddydaddy  :D

Caddy-- Sorry to hear about your hospital stay!  That sucks, man.

I agree with your 100 girl rating comment-- it is about her character and looks and heart and soul!  Not just her looks...

Have a great visit with your baby, and good luck in getting those papers ready!
