Geez, Dan, couldn't you given us at least another stress free week?  Now with my wife leaving for Ukraine next week I have to be thinking--Gift before she leaves?  Arrange to send her something there? Have something waiting for when she gets back?  All three just to cover myself?

No doubt on Feb 15th we'll be getting our first reminders of Women's Day, that most potentially lethal holiday of them all.  :selfharm:

Now with my wife leaving for Ukraine next week I have to be thinking--Gift before she leaves?  Arrange to send her something there? Have something waiting for when she gets back?  All three just to cover myself?

How it works for me:  If I give the gift too early, come the 'special' day, it will nearly be forgotton.  Giving it afterwards only works if they honestly believe (and expecting) they weren't getting anything at all.

Your best two choices are either to arrange for something for her to get their, or hide something small in her suitcases for her.

At least you have her daughter to be your "partner in crime" on the ground there.
