Advice Needed
« on: February 05, 2009, 08:09:19 AM »
Hey All,

Things were going SO smoothly...

My fiance has a 22 year old deaf married daughter.  I have met her and confirmed that she does exist.

Anyway, the daughter will probably be divorced before our NOA2 arrives.  Being deaf, her employment options in Russia are very limited.  Do any of you know if there is an exception of some sort to the 21 and married rule on the fiance visa process?  I am simply asking to find out what our options may be.

Also, I have a NOA1 and a receipt number, but I cannot view my case on the USCIS web site.  I have called twice now.  The first time I got a very unpleasant woman who told me "That system has bugs.  Call back in a month."  The second time I called, I got a nicer woman who said "I'll send an email to get that taken care of."  The 2nd lady also told me that "All is well with your application."  I still can't view my case on the web site.

As of today we are #320 on Igor's List.  (I don't think Igor's is official in any way, but our number keeps going down, which seems reassuring.)

I would feel better if I could view our case on the USCIS web site.  My computer geek instincts are telling me that a little thing wrong probably means there is a big thing wrong also.

What do you all think?

Thanks!

Darren

Hello dgellis,

I can't give you advice on the daughter, but you may want to do some reading at  www.visajourney.com   That's where I spend a lot of my time. It may help you find your answer.

As far as the K-1 goes, you won't have any luck calling the service center unless you have been waiting at least 6 months. I'm in the K-1 process now and I filed at Vermont. We have been waiting over 4 months now without any type of "touch". Everyone says to expect a 5-6 month wait.

Good luck

Darren,

Do not be too nervous about not being able to see your case on USCIS website.  All the times I had a case with them: applying for conditional permanent residenceship and later changing it to unconditional, I could never see the status on their website, but received paperwork within 3 months, I believe.  Super fast, I did not expect it at all.  We'll hope the same is with your case.

Hi dgellis,

I file my K-1 at the the end of August at VSC. We were approved on 1/21/09. I check
USCIS website today and it still said "Case received and pending". Ours took 149 days from NOA1 to NOA2. I think we were 170 something on Igor's list when we were approved.

Good luck with everthing

8/23/08 I-129F arrives at VCS
8/25/08 NOA1
1/21/09 NOA2
2/11/09 Medical   Passed!!
2/23/09 Interview Passed!!!
3/7/09 Arrived in USA!!!

Thanks all.  I won't crank myself up over the web site then.  I'll post my other question there also.
