I see brighter prospects for my career in Europe than in the US.  And I also love Eastern European Women.  Would it be possible for me to obtain a greecard or work permit and be eligible for employment in, say, France, Germany, Italy, etc. if I married a girl from Romania, Bulgaria, Poland, etc. (one of the newer EU Eastern European Countries)?  I'm a US citizen.

There is no EU green card.

Let me explain. The EU has in their agreement the right of free movement between countries. This means that in theory any EU citizen is allowed to work and live in any other EU country. However there are differences.
The countries which are not part of the Schengen treaty, and some of the new countries, still have to apply for work visa in order to move.

As a result if you marry a woman from Poland, you could probably move with her to most of the EU without problem. Other countries like Bulgaria or Romania could pose the problem that she will need a job in another EU country before the both of you are able to move, which means no difference from your current situation.

No it is not a dog. Its really how I look.  ;)

Does this make him a green card guy?   ;)

I don't understand why such a screwball way of getting to live in Europe? As a US citizen you have a right to go to almost any country there without a visa for 90 days - no questions asked. Do your work from here (like find out what jobs are in demand - if any, contact the people who advertised, find out particulars for and American who wants to get resident/work permit - these are not the same) and/or go looking for a job and permit there.

Why saddle yourself with immigration fraud from the outset - which is a deportable felony anywhere as far as I know?

Also, while the economy and job market here are in bad shape, there still ARE jobs to get, the shape of the economies of the EU countries isn't much better and can be worse, and you're entitled as a citizen to a lot of help here which in a foreign country you cannot even begin to dream of (if this safety net was there to begin with - it's definitely not for a foreigner)

If the sole purpose would be to land a job it would be immigration fraud. If not, there is no fraud.
Regarding the job market Wienerin is correct, the EU is also suffering at this time.
The social safety is varying per country. While obtaining immigrant visa means of income are required, but once a 5-year card is given the local social safety is available, and can be high compared to the US in countries like Sweden or the Netherlands.

The purpose is to marry an Eastern European girl (cause i have a thing for them) and to obtain the side benefit of possibly being able to work in the EU.

marrying a mail-order bride?

First maybe you can put a stamp on a box mail your self as a mail order husbain.

This might just be me, but to use the words (mail order bride) tells me that you think that this is easy!

I am not trying to slam you, but you need to think about what your doing and what this is all about?

good luck!
