The Apple...

Just had to post this.  Today is my in-law's wedding anniversary.  They have celebrated 39 of these anniversaries together.  I truly enjoy spending time with my wife's parents, as it is obvious to all who spend time with them that they enjoy each other's company and care for each other.

I can only hope that the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.  This is the kind of thing you look for when in search of a mate.

Absolutely true....

My wife's parents were together many years, 30+ years, right up until the death of my F-in-L.  Mom-in-Law still pines for him. Places flowers on his grave regularily, does upkeep on the site.  They were a deeply loving couple.

I think this sort of stuff rubs off on the offspring.  At least I hope so...

My wifes parents jsut celebrated 40 years last month. Can you imagine? And that's with the same woman. (and same man). I remember as I got to know them better, and watch them, how after all those years, they would still be playfull with one another. Truely amazing!!  As we grew in our relationship they treated me like their own son. Of course Papa, was a bit skeptical at first.  We had no common language, but our bond in the begining was after dinner, we go out on the back porch, light up some american cigars I brought with me, sit there and puff on them, and nod agreeingly at each other, as if to say, damn, these are good. We'd finish, get up to go inside, and mama and papa would get ready to leave. He always helped her with her coat and kiss her on the cheek. She always treats him like a king but then, she's his queen. I saw and still see all those same qualities in mama's daughter. Lucky me !!

My wifes father passed away shortly before we were maried. In fact we had to change our wedding date to show respect in mourning. I never had the pleasure of meeting him but from all accounts from family & friends, he was very god father & loving husband.

He & Mom were together for over 30 years & still loved each other. I can tell she misses him everytime she talks about him & the children miss him too. I can only hope their memories of me will be as fond.

I don't know if my wife got her ways from her mother or her father but I do know that she loves me & would never allow me to be hurt in any way, just as I feel about her. I still remember the look in her eyes the night she had to call the ambulance for me. I have never seen her afraid before but she was that night & still tells me everyday she loves me & prays for me.

Sometimes even a fool gets lucky.:D

I don't know- there are those who say that all women, RW and AW are 'the same', but looking at the above post, I get the definite impression there are major differences. RVR's wife sounds like a major step up from AW.
...sure, all women have some things in common, but to say that all women are the same is only..half true.
Thanks for sharing that, Richard.
