Shower in Kiev
« on: April 03, 2009, 08:37:03 AM »
Hello all,
I am planning my second trip to Ukraine and my girlfriend is meeting me at Borispol. I have a long flight from the States and I need to get a shower in before the second leg of my trip to Poltava. My girlfriend wants to spend the day in Kiev then take a overnight train to Poltava. Any ideas on where to go for a shower only? I hate to stink :wallbash:

I have used the hotel Olga H mentions before for shower.  However, if you over weight you will not fit in the shower.  Not a joke.  Very small shower stalls they have. If your tall no problem.

A bit out-of-the-box, but maybe ask your lady to research the location
of Kiev's many hundreds of bathhouses, head straight to one she selects,
and enjoy a shower, sauna, etc.

Google киев сауна - there are so many, some must be nice, and
perhaps not far from the airport?

Hotel Borispol,
There is a cafe-bar, a sauna, a swimming-pool...

You probably already booked your flights.  But I like going from USA through Amsterdam to Kiev for a couple reasons.

One is Mercure hotel inside immigration at Amsterdam airport - you can rent a very nice bathroom for an hour for less than 20 usd. Second is numerous flights a day to Kiev and the plane goes right to the terminal - no stupid bus from airplane to terminal. Less than 3 hours from Kiev so after shower you land fresh in Kiev.
Third - the Dutch people are very friendly and speak the best English in the world - this is true.

Ditto on Amsterdam Schiphol airport - I always look for the USA to Kiev flights that connect there also for the above mentioned reasons, and I was once befriended by one of the airport shop employees when I was frantically looking for a misplaced camera bag which I got back (I was traveling to Kiev - my mind was elsewhere!).

Thanks. But honestly the English of those in Norway is much better in pronounciation. However it will be hard to find Dutch people who do not at least understand some English.
No it is not a dog. Its really how I look.  ;)

And I third the recommendation to fly through Amsterdam (if possible) and shower there.

Hey thanks all and a note about this forum. I have learned so much from the good and helpful folks here. This site gave me alot of insight to go to the Ukraine in the first place and to hopefully to be with the love of my life. I have wrote her for almost a year now and it seems to get better all the time.
Thanks :D
